my gas tank has finally given up it's ghost... i mourn the loss.
but now i need a new tank, anybody have one they wish to part with?
If leaking ... I'll take it ... need somehting to try welding on ... someone else had a disaster of a tank ... I need them to practice on guys ... OK my welder will practice ... but none the less ... shipping and small $$ paid - OK its got a hole ... what else you expect ...
Now If you want to send me some carbs etc I'll work on them free for ya ... (labor free ... charge for parts only ... $20)
If I fix it ... and dont blow up the thing ... you can buy back if you like.
I can powdercoat it and send it for what that costs ... anyway ... send them over ... if they dont have dents in it ... will be great ...
Cool.

it was really bad, as we stripped paint we kept finding more and more holes, big enough to stick a pencil through. we tried welding it, but as the welds cooled the extremely thin metal began to crack, massively. so we cut it apart to look at the inside after we decided it was a lost cause. i'd sent it to you, but it isn't really much of a gas tank any more. i'll post some pics.
there is a tank on ebay for cheap, but it is for an gs500 F not E. will it fit?
just get this one.

F tank will fit E ... you need to have some brackets made to carry the fairing grommets ... now I would make those quite easy, but I got no F tank ... need that ideally to fit the things. You can make it ... use steel strip and bend it into a Rectangle shape and remove a small part of the long side and drill holes for bolt and big one for grommet.

WOW !
That tank is up to $280.00 !!! holy crap !...
Just ducktape a 3 liter Pepsi bottle on there! jk.. :)
when I am working on the bike I will use a oil bottle with a piece of 6mm fuel hose to the carbs. the hose at the dealer is like a buck a foot, and the bottle is flexable enough that it dosn't really need a vent.
Haha...
When I work on mine.. I use an small Aquafina water bottle :) , It as a hole in it to let air in though. :guns:
I used a pepsi bottle once, back when they first cam out with the big slam ones, it took about three minutes to eat through the plastic. good thing it wasn't my bike.
ha ha! a pepsi / oil bottle would be way better than what i had, i'm using dial up now, and it is being crap, but soon i'll post pics of my former gas tank.
