Title: Problem at cold start - maybe the choke?
Post by: JunaryBunch on June 30, 2005, 10:29:20 AM
Help me out.  2nd day now - after I start it up with my choke to max position I wait about 30 secs to a minute.  Afterwards, I lower the choke to lowest position, but my engine is still revving at about 4K rpms.  I move the choke back and forth a few times but nothing happens.  After a few minutes or so it finally goes down to about 1K rpm.

any ideas?

Make sure that the choke plunger actually moves to the OFF position when you push the lever forward.  If it doesn't, you should lube your choke cable and make sure the return spring is where it should be.

Here's a reference photo to show you where to look on the right side of the bike:

Maybe lube the brass arm where it slides through the little rubber retainers (see one just beneath the spring).
