Title: Zero Gravity Windscreens
Post by: Phaedrus on June 30, 2005, 01:53:23 PM
Hi all, I tried to purchase a new windscreen for my '04 "F". I really, really wanted the light smoke Sport Touring one. I think that would be great. They also have stock replacements and "double bubble" racing looking ones of various colors. Not bad prices really, either.

However, after not receiving a confirmation on my order, I called back and discovered that they are not released yet. It might be another 1-6 months! Ugh.

I called Zero Gravity and got put on their notify list, so as soon as it comes out..I'll get emailed  :thumb:

So if anyone else is interested in one, might not hurt to give them a call and get put on their list as well. At least they will see there is interest so they will go through with making it for sure.

Well, I got impatient and thought maybe they forgot about me since it has been a while and I still did not hear from them. So I wrote them...again.

Are the sport touring / double bubble / stock replacement windscreens for the '04+ Suzuki GS500F's available now? I had tried to place an order back in June but was told they were still under development. I gave my contact information to be put on a mailing list to be notified when it was released, but I have not yet heard anything. But I just checked your website and it says that it is a "New Release" and has a part # to order.

They wrote:

QuoteSorry for the confusion. The New Release at the top doesn't mean it's available yet. We're working on the final tooling and it should be ready to manufacture in a week or two. So we haven't forgotten about you......ZG

Ehh. It's coming along, I guess.  :dunno:  Just thought I'd give an update in case anyone cares.

Yeah I have been waiting also for a few months now. i think there were a few other people that had tried to order these (maybe different ones). Thay got the same answer also. They sell it ... but they don't have it.  :?

I was gonna try just to paint the inside of my screen but dont know what paint to get and cant find the thread that said it. I'd hate to screw up my only windscreen like I did my shock!!

I think it was Vinyl Dye...

Or "Plastic Dye"

Or "Plastic Paint"

Like you would use on model cars. i know Krylon makes this paint that is supposed to adhere to plastic. But like I said I'd hate to screw up my only screen. Things run in a pattern sprocket=good :) , sv650 shock=bad :x , 05 Katana shock=good(actually this shock is sweet a little hard but I have to feel the adjustments out a little), (insert mod here)=bad...

Yes there are other options (paint, dye, whatever) but I am not looking for a stock / tinted replacement. The one I personally want is the "Sport Touring" windscreen, which is supposed to be a couple inches higher than the stock windscreen. I'd like a "dark smoked" one, I think that would look pretty cool.  :thumb:

Ya, me too. I am looking to get a dark smoke sport touring. I am tired of tucking on the highway. I know the wind isn't that bad but I want to be able to sit upright w/o too much wind.

Go slower  :nana:

I've been thinking about getting a small one for the winter time...  Like an f14/16 or something...

They told me it would be 6 months when I called...

That was over a year go. I wouldn't hold your breath.

Believe me, I'm not.  I've already seen weeks turn into months. Might as well see months turn into years.  :dunno:

I just received my Zero Gravity sport touring light smoke windscreen. Here are some photos:

I'll get some more photos tomorrow and test it out on the road. It's not as thick as the factory screen but seems solid enough.

I bought the windscreen here: http://www.exoticsportbike.com/gs_500f_(04-05).htm

I ordered it in late October, was told two weeks, then told two more weeks, then told a month at the end of November, then told a month a couple of weeks ago.

Puig now has GS500F windscreens available at the Sum Of All Parts store on ebay motors.

Kickass. That is the exact one that I want; the light smoke sport touring one. Can we see a profile shot? Or maybe a shot from the seat?  :thumb:  I think it looks good.

is it the added height you guys are wanting, or the smoke color, cuz you could just get some window tint an get the same effect, an go as dark as u want, hell they even make colored tint

ZeroG is the best in the business.  I bet that shield will take some wind off your chest.  I jave a zero gravity screen on both my bikes.  I personally like the look of the double bubble shields.

For those who asked, I didn't tint the stock windscreen or paint it black because I wanted to deflect the air higher in hopes of getting it over my 6-foot-5 frame. If I try to tuck, my head ends up right over the gauges, so that's really not an option. The wind does go higher, hitting me in the helmet instead of the chest, and is a little smoother instead of so turbulent.

I got out on the highway this weekend, and 80 mph slipped up on me. That's how much the screen reduced the wind blast.
