Well respraying is as much of a pain in the arse as I had feared.
I have the bike partially stripped down.
Now I just have to get everything REAL clean.
And mask off the bits I don't wanna spray.
As you can see I have raised the bike on blocks in a rather unconventional way. Well I have about 100 spare from doing the patio.

I also just made a bean tin cover for my right side engine cover to replace the gaffer tape that had been there.

My exhaust is kinda rusty

But I guess it'll last for another year, it's not like it's safety critical.
You're doing it the right way. :thumb: Looking forward to seeing how it comes out!
While you have it apart, maybe polish the rusty exhaust?
However - it might be OK for something light like a bike frame, but I never use brick or cinder blocks as a support - they crumble. Consider investing in some good jackstands; wood is also better than brick for this purpose.
These are high density driveway paving blocks so ought to be fine with most things bike related.
I've even used one to file the end of bolts I cut smooth.
(before I got decent tools)
The exhaust is getting sanded and resprayed.
In fact it's the 1st thing on the list.

 Your bike has an expiration date.
and it has expired.
That bean tin is the coolest idea that I have seen in a long time!@!!!@!
Way to GO!!! You're officially a hot rodder!
I LIKE IT! :thumb:
What did you use for adhesive?
Some silicon gasket goo left over from the time I took my girlfriends 2 stroke MZ TS250/1 to pieces to fit a new conrod.
It sets to a rubbery goo and is heat proof so I hope it'll hold.
