Title: Carb problems after re-jet
Post by: vfrocket on July 02, 2005, 04:10:26 PM
Hey I know this gets asked alot, but here goes..

I installed Dynojet stage 3 kit, and k&n Uni filter... bike starts great, and idles fine...

But once warmed up, it dies at about 4K rpm..

what gives, bike was running great before re-jet.

I checked float levels, they seemed a little low, I will adjust up once bike cools down.

What could cause these symptoms, all hoses are hooked up properly.

TIA

Ok I AM DUMB!

In the directions it says to be sure to install all stock spacers.. i.e. the little plastic thing under the eclip on the stock needle... I guess I forgot to read that part, but as soon as I took the needles out, and installed that little spacer, Whala!! it runs like a bat out of hell...

So word to the wise, but it may seem obvious, remeber to install the little plastic spacer from the stock needle to your new needle...

Just got done from my test drive... YEEHAA!!! My GS is a rocketship now! and it sounds great thanks to the great flange made by srinath!

Excellent mods! I recommend everyone do this. Makes the bike 100% more responsive.

vfrocket, how many turns in are you on your air mix screws?  I recently set up some carbs w/ a DJ stage 3 kit as well, and I'm getting some light backfiring at partial throttle in the 4-5k rpm range, and occasionally when coming to a stop the rpms are not falling as they should.  It could be float height, air mix screws, a few other things from what I understand, just trying to eliminate a few variables.
