Title: Katana 750 Front End?
Post by: BigTwin on July 04, 2005, 10:23:49 AM
What would I need to install/fabricate to make a Katana 750 Front End on my 2001 GS500? What about brakes, wheels, gauges, etc...?

I messed up my fork tubes in a wreck, and need new tubes, but this option sounds cool since I'm making my bike look different.

Well, I just noticed the How-To, does anybody know if this is too much of a job for a novice wrencher?

As long as you are patient it is easy

It also depends on the type of triple clamps you have

I have a modified katana on mine
I just had some spacers made and filing the center tube down like in the guide

the hard part is what to do with the gauge cluster and headlight since they no longer fit on the bike

I made some brackets to hold the stock gauge cluster on the katana triple, but I had to hack off a part of the kat triple

I may decide to switch the gauge cluster off now tho, since it looks awfully big and out of place on my bike in its current form

I am also using the fork mounted headlight brackets from a SV650 to mount my current headlight setup

the SV fork brackets work just like the stock GS bracket only they are 41mm

not yet

I wanna get all the bodywork on before I go snapping pics of the thing

I got the tank and fender painted, but the tail is fighting me tooth and nail

It sucks trying to morph 6 bikes into 1
