Well tropical storm Cindy made landfall West of Mobile early yesterday. Some local flooding (7 inchs of rain) and some very scattered wind damage. Now hurrican Dennis's current track as of late Wed. appears to have Mobile near center. If you remember Ivan back last year http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12218&highlight= It made landfall just East in Pensacola FL. Is it just me or does it seem like the central Gulf Coast is getting screwed? Anyway, good luck to the Gulf Coast GStwin members.

Yep ... I saw the projected track on the 10:00 news, heard them say "Mobile", and thought of poor ol' ashman first thing. :x
yeah, florida bites for most these storms, cant say im not happy to see them go elsewhere. what was it, 4 storms in 6 weeks rattled our cages last season? yeah, im fed up.
We are getting wet by Cindy now. Luckily the storms slow down some by the time they get here.
one of the nice trade off's, being on the left coast.
Yeah I'm quite excited about Dennis. Ok so not really. I hope Pensacola doesn't get it again. I don't think they could take another direct hit. Though I'd rather them than us. What happened to good ol' Texas. They didn't get anything last year. Mobile has already had two tropical storms affect it this year, though Arlene wasn't too bad. We need to create a hurricane firewall. lol
Now there is a tornado about 4 miles away from me.
I just got back from a week stay right near Ft. Morgan and wow, the surf from Cindy was amazing... I cannot imagine what it was like during Ivan. They are still fixing the damage from the last big one, hope they don't get another.
I feel bad for all the southerners down that way. I know that regardless if it hits the gulf or florida they always come up and cause nasty weather for at least two days in VA. We are getting the remnants of the first one now.
Its getting big... They are evacuating the keys and lower FL, and its heading toward Gulf Shores and Destin. This could get real interesting. I think I'll have a hurricane party sunday night, all GS'ers get in for half price
After watching the news at lunch, this thing keeps looking worse. I just talked to my friend in mobile and they are going to ride it out there... They are predicting tropical force winds in my area, and I am well north of the coast. Tornados are a big concern as well. Time to batten down the hatches...
Will a mod please move this to odds and ends, it gets buried too quickly on this page.

. hmmm, gives a whole new meaning to the term "bed wetter" eh?, jk you be alright :thumb:
this bed wetter is in Baton Rouge, La visiting his g/f. My roommate stayed in mobile @ a friends place that has a generator. He said most people have gotten out of Mobile and have boarded up their homes. It looks like it is headed for the bama/FL state line, I'm thinking Mobile might get it worse thaen w/ Ivan cuz this storm is more symmetrical w/ its intensity. Well, either way my GS is locked up in the house nice and dry. I'll probably be headed back Monday to check things out. Stay safe!

looks like we dodged the bullet on this one... My Mobile friends stayed, and they are without power but nobody appeared to have much damage. We got some 50-60 mph winds, but it had just about fizzled by the time it got here.
No worries at my house. Mobile lucked out big time. Poor Pensacola and Atmore though. We never lost power at my house. Though there are quite a few people without power in both AL and FL today. I actually thought it wasn't as bad as Ivan, though it hit further east and the eye wasn't as big. I think this is going to be an interesting hurricane season.
