Title: Vertically-challenged
Post by: JAZZY045 on July 11, 2005, 07:57:53 AM
Ok, I just bought a GS500 and am learning how to ride it. My problem is that I need the bike dropped at least an inch cuz it's hard learning on my tippy-toes! The dealer that I bought it from told me that I can't have the bike dropped becuase they don't make the necessary parts for this model. But I heard that it can be dropped. Someone help me, please.

You can get dogbones for it that will lower it, I have a link at home I think to a guy's site that sells them, or do a search on this site or Google and I am sure you can find them. But that is what you are looking fog, "Dogbones" :)

Title: Do

Or do what the brothas and sistas around here do ... when they dont know how to ride ... they just put a 12 inch extended swingarm and lower it 6 inches ... Yea you need to extend it to drop it that low cos else the rear tire will make contact with your ass ... Yea everyhting needs to be chromed and polished and have one super cool custom paint job. Its has to be a 6,000 minimum paint job on a 1993 600 F2 being ridden by a 30 some year old girl who is maybe 5 ft 2 and heck damned if she can ride a bicycle ... Oh yea Her BF who also cannot ride has a 1100 XX with a similar custom paint job and a stretched swingarm ... BTW They attempted to polish the frame on the F2 ... and it ended up looking bad (yea its called rust ..) so they had to chrome it ... and now its got spots of rust ... which they are oblivious to ...
See I used to run into the classic redneck "If it aint Harley It aint shaZam! even if we cant tell if its a Harley or not" crowd ... from where I used to hang out before ... now I hang out more where the Brothas like - I think ... so I am endlessly running into the bling bling crowd ... Yea I also saw a set of $4000+ per wheel spinners on a stretched Hayabusa ... and they cant figure out why the bike now is harder to handle ...
I am like ... what the heck ... Sir Issac Netwon committed suicide ... now I know why ... Looks like I will have to follow him ...
Cool.

Before you look at lowering your bike try shaving the seat first.  Also get some good riding boots with a thicker sole.

Well, technically only the SV and the GS have cut seats - the Breva has a shaped seat that isn't lower than the stock low seat.

It ain't easy being short!

Do what I did instead of spending all that money just to lower an inch that you will later wish you had never done. Soften the rear shock a bit which in turn once it gets worked in a little will end up riding a bit lower. It may not be that full inch you need but it ended up working for me.

Pills ... pills ... dont even get me started on the pharmceutical industry ... They think its OK to have to take a pill for each of your symptoms every day for the rest of your life ... miserable drug peddlers ... Heck I'd rather I go to a real drug dealer ... instead of a government sanctioned one ...
Yea There is no pill for me baby ... y'all should take a pill if you dont agree ... or probably stop taking the pills if you dont agree ... yea that's right ...
Cool.

My sister let me ride her short-ass bike the other day...  I felt like my ass was gonna scrap in the turns.

I took the MSF course and right after got a GS.. I can barely touch my toes to the ground if both feet are down but so far I haven't had any problems. I was thinking about having the seat shaved down but I'm hoping to grow some more.  :dunno: I can dream eh.

That's great advice, but since I'm a woman, I don't think that'll be a pretty sight (not for me anyway). I'm in the process of shaving my seat so we'll see how that works out. I just hope it doesn't take too much away from the comfort.

Hey, it's like my dream car, Lotus 340R, only missing a wheel!

Hmm, could you chrome the flange before you send it out?

Short People got no reason
Short People got no reason
Short People got no reason
To live

They got little hands
Little eyes
They walk around
Tellin' great big lies
They got little noses
And tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes
On their nasty little feet

Well, I don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
`Round here

Short People are just the same as you and I
(A Fool Such As I)
All men are brothers until the day they die
(It's A Wonderful World)

Short People got nobody
Short People got nobody
Short People got nobody
To love

They got little baby legs
That stand so low
You got to pick 'em up
Just to say hello
They got little cars
That go beep, beep, beep
They got little voices
Goin' peep, peep, peep
They got grubby little fingers
And dirty little minds
They're gonna get you every time
Well, I don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
Don't want no Short People
'Round here
