Hiya!
For a while back my '98 GS started to make this weird clunking noise when I was accelerating & banking at the same time, say for example when turning to a crossing street.
I couldn't figure it out; nothing was loose, my chain and sprockets are in quite good shape etc... and they're well-adjusted, so it wasn't about them.
It stopped outright when I got my toolbox out and removed the rear wheel. All the bearings & stuff are nice'n snug, nothing was loose, nothing seemed wrong.
I'm a bit annoyed about that even if I didn't actually *do* anything on it, it still went away... I'm just hoping it won't come back anytime soon.
Any ideas?
I had a problem with mine where i heard knocking or slapping sound behind me, ended up I had lost a screw... It was a screw that holds the mudguard plastics (or whatever it's really called) on.... Located right behind the licence plate that connects somewhere behind where the toolkit is stored...
Could it have possibly been yout toolbag under the seat? Did you remove it to take the wheel of and then put it back in?
Sounds to me like it would have been (we're conjecturing here, after all it's after the fact, and you probably fixed it) a loose axle banging the chain adjustment plates into the swingarm. The only other thing I can think of is the brake caliper being loose, or the brake stay arm. What about your front brake caliper and axle? Or, did you check the countershaft and sprocket?
Try loosing some weight fatty :lol:
