Title: Bike accident!! need info
Post by: llAznPlayerll on July 17, 2005, 12:46:56 AM
lucky for me i wasn't in a big accident and got no injury
the roads on in my area are being rebuild
but they are also very uneven
the accident happened when i was making a left turn
i got alot of pebbles on the rear wheel and fell
the damage i got was a
scratched up on the plastic and the crankcase with a hole near the top
it is not leaking motor oil. i can start the bike but when i put it in first gear it stalls
anyone know what to do?
can i just replace the case or do i need to do somethign else?

sorry, can't help you with your problem... im a new rider myself.

however, i just wanted to say that if there's anything i pay triple attention, is just that, the corners. if unsure, I take it reaaaally slow, even if I have cars behind me getting pissed.

Does the engine die when you  pull the clutch lever in? if so the problem is related to the side stand safety switch, its on the left hand side and could have got damaged in the fall.

The sidestand safety switch keeps the engine from running in gear with the sidesand down, but allows the bike to run in neutral with the sidestand down.  It sounds like your switch may be malfunctioning--it thinks the sidestand is down--which is causing it to die when you put it in gear, yet run in neutral.

Is the hole in the "crankcase" located on the part of the engine right below where the clutch cable enters (the cover over the front drive sprocket)?

Could be two things that I can think of.  Like somebody said, check the switch under the clutch lever and check your kickstand.

Second thing, might be rocker arms or something related to valves. Make sure bike is running on both cylinders...also try reving higher than you usually would and slowly (SLOWLY) release the clutch.

Good luck wid dat...
