So I bought the OEM case guards for my 98. Only the bolts don't fit, not long enough. They come with a 10 inch and an 11 inch. Looks like I need 12 inches (possibly 13 on the bottom but I have to double check that). :x :x :x
Does anyone know where I can get a hold of those long @ss bolts (or what other kind of bike's bolts I could use)? :dunno: :dunno:
Thanks
ask Srinath, he hould still have a bunch from the last buy.

Had the same problem when I bought the guards for my 2001. Use the long bolt where it says to use the short one - use the bolt you removed where it says to use the long one. Leaving you the the short bolt unused.
I had this same problem I just used the 2 longest bolts one new and one old took me like 3 hours to give up doing it the long and short bolts but then i said f it i will use these
Joe
ditto... I ended up using the long bolts orginally with the motor, and not the short one they suppy.
wow :o
thanks gang for the heads up :thumb:
i got the case guards for my '04 gsf - i know i will have to cut away at the fairing to get them on though
I had the same problem, I used the longer bolt that came with the kit up top and the shorter one on the bottom, worked fine for me, Just do the opposite of what the instuctions say.
Ditto the above comments about one of the old bolts and one of the new.
Also, be very careful when tightening the new bolts, they're really cheap and break easily :x
thanks everyone, i'll give it a shot
