I had a slight oil leak coming from the stator cover and I decided to replace it before I went to a track day this last weekend. When I took the cover off, I saw something that reminds me of the last time I had the cover off.

Its slight, but there are chunks of the stator missing (mostly near the top of the pic, but I cut a little off when I cropped it) and a little piece of one of the rotor magnets is missing, too.
I hope I'm just being paranoid so I'm wondering how normal this is.
I have ~2000 miles on my engine since I replaced the rotor and the stator so anything broken on them has broken since then. I also lowsided the bike on the left side, so this could all be from that crash.
I've read what you went through. :( I'd rather not know what my stator & rotor look like for fear that I'll also find something I won't like. :(
Not leaking, and hoping it stays that way.

Edit: Is the crank balanced? Does the rotating mass have any runout?
Is it possible that there was still some remaining magnets from the time before that could have caused this?

I don't see how that could have happened. I took everything apart (even the transmission shafts) and cleaned ever nook and cranny I could find.
I don't remember who it was, but someone got GS twice and attributed it to a damaged stator cover. I don't see any cracks or damage on the cover, though. My bike has been crashed on that side at least twice so maybe I am just not seeing the damage.

you're talking about my bike. it happened with the previous owner though. it was crashed on the left side.. he said it wasn't noticable or anything but the case cover had been repaired with jbweld.. or something.. i dunno. ill get more details at work tommorow.
