Post by: kimo3825 on July 19, 2005, 11:46:33 PM
yes i know this topic has already been talked about before. has anyone thought about making a new bracket to support sliders. i might have someone that i know. but i don't think it will happen since he's always busy with other projects. let me know what you guys and gals think or you might know someone that could do it.

I talked to the mechanic at the dealership where I bought my 04 GS500F and he said it would be really easy to build a bracket that runs parralell to the intake on the side of the fairing. Use 3/8 inch stell with a whole through the middle, then weld a 90 degree bend on the top/bottom (the angle would have to be adjusted to fit the frame and where the bolts are that hold the engine in place.) Bolt the 3/8 to the frame, and then drill a hole in the fairing. Run a bolt through the fairing to the 3/8 and bolt that down. Use spaces/washers/ etc to attach the frame slider and keep it on the outside of the fairing. It should not be hard to do once you get the measurements right. Just need someone to weld it though. Let me know if you find anyone that can do this, as I would definitely buy some pre-fabed parts and put sliders on my bike.

i was hoping to use the something like the guy does on a site. i can't remember it off the top of my head but i'm sure you know what i'm talking about. i was thinking of just do it like him but make a more durable bracket and better sliders.

Came across this on eBay today. I don't know where these mount, but they are for sale from a website.

If these just replace a fairing screw then they are probably crap, but from the looks in the photo these might go into the frame somewhere. I will check my bike when I get home from work to see what bolt is behind here.

thanks for the help but that has already been talked about on this board. they would work fine except for the bracket they secure to is very weak. i want to make that bracket alot strong so i could actually support a decent fall.
