Title: How can I empty my gas tank?
Post by: throcky on July 21, 2005, 08:11:47 PM
How can I completely empty my gas tank?  I have it off the frame.  I shake it and move it around; however, I still here gas swishing around...I would just let the gas evaporate out but the there is water in the tank and the water won't evaporate as easily.

I always soak it up with a rag.

Add some alcohol.  Can you get HEET ("Gas line antifreeze & water remover") where you are?

If you want, just dump the HEET in, swish it around until it's mixed with the water, then drain the tank again.  Fill with gas, and you're good to go.

Actually, just adding a half-bottle of HEET to a full tank of gas, and riding around as normal should be all you really need to do.  There's probably no need to drain the tank at all.

Stoli 180 would work too :) .

Title: rust

OK look at the FAQ section ... gas and water are OK if you do POR or Kreem ... basically acid etch ... will totally ignore the crap in the tank and eat up the rust ... Then you have fun getting the water out at a later stage ... but I drop very very hot water in after acid and after draining it ... I soak up with towels ...
Cool.
