Title: Can I wire my bike up to the mains please?
Post by: red_phil on July 23, 2005, 05:01:13 PM
Well someone just knocked my bike over outside the pub.
GRR

Can I electrify it to kill anyone who touches it?
Please?
How about a bad jolt but not kill?

The worst of it is that the bike looks fine except for scuffing to the right side engine cover
Pray this doesn;t set off goat's syndrome.

This is bad because the brunt of the impact was taken by my girlfriends helmet that was on the right side helmet lock.
It was less than 8 hours old. It had only been used once!

That sucks. I'm not happy about replacing another helmet after crashing again, but at least I have no one else to blame but myself.

On the bright side, the alternator is on the left side so it's pretty unlikely that this would set goats syndrome. IMHO you would need more than a tipover on the left side to screw the rotor up enough for that to happen.

Just hang a sign "CAUTION - HIGH VOLTAGE" on it.

That is bad news. Now you know why Pub Landlords / owners / managers pay higher insurance premiums, not as a lot of people think, because they are more likely to be driving under the influence but because their vehicles spend a long time parked outside of pubs.

Good news.

As the helmet was bought on credit card and hadn't been home yet it is covered by the 'transit insurance' provided by the card.

OK this is designed to insure you if your wide screen TV gets dropped on the way home, but it still applies to bike helmets seeing as how it hadn't made it home.

Also managed to reserve the last helmet of that style in the same size with the bike shop. :)
