hello fellow gs'ers.... i've had my 04 gs500f for about a month and a half now and just noticed that my highbeam indicator doesn't light up anymore. i have read somewhere about it being quite a frequent problem but i can't seem to find it anymore. ive tried searching this forum but no luck. does anybody else have this problem or know how to replace the bulb? thanks for your time
on the other side of the blue cap there is a plug. it has two wires coming out of it. just pull it out, take out the bulb and buy another bulb. its sorta hard to pull out but just pull it and it will come out.
btw it's a white 194 bulb. yes it's a frequent problem, bulbs and vibrations just don't mix well.
It was the first bulb to go on my dash as well. Believe it's the lowest wattage of the group -- don't know if that's a contributor to flairing out first.
I'd never taken the dash apart before replacing that bulb. Took me 30 minutes to replace it. It was a good reason to take the bike out for ride afterwards. :thumb:
I just did this repair on my 2004 GS500F, and I used a Sylvania 73 bulb. The 194 was too big. The 73 was the same size as the one that came out, and it fit and works perfectly. I also squirted some WD-40 inside all the bulb holes, as water dripped out when I took the gauge cluster off, and the hi-beam bulb was corroded a little.
first to go on mine too-only one actually. went early too. never replaced it. sold bike.
