I've been having a problem with my idle speed adjustment. My bike has been idling low, even when warmed up, at around 1k RPM. I've tried adjusting the idle speed to 1200 with the bike warmed up, but when I do this, the throttle will "stick" at high rpms when I try to come to a stop. After a second or so, the revs will slowly drop. My bike seems to drop revs slowly in general. I hope I explained that clearly.
Does anyone have any ideas what the problem may be? I'd like to get sort of a jumping-off point before I tear into my carbs like a porkchop.
Did one of the carbs come loose, or out of one of the carb boots? Check to see if one of the carb boots is letting air past it by spraying WD40 on 'em. When was your last valve adjustment and oil change?
If the carburetors are stock then they are already lean and should be rejetted. If not, turn out the mix screws another half turn, up to a max of 3.5 full turns out. If you don't want to rejet, then leave your idle at 1000. Or, better yet, adjust your float height higher (free!).
