Title: oil change = new bike!
Post by: synchro on July 28, 2005, 03:55:46 PM
wow!!! I just did my 1st ever oil change today...dealer did the 1st 1st one along with 1st servicing.  I dont know if im wierd or something but I had a ton of fun doing it.  The part that wasnt fun was lining up the bent fairing that a benz help ruin.

Took it out for a quick ride after and the bike was shifting better and got to speed a little faster...then again it may just be in my head

I remember reading a while back that some of you put a substance on the 'o' ring to help with the seal. Whats the substance called????

Grease.

Congratulations!
Did you do a valve adjustment, too? Valve adjustments are to be done every 4000 miles.

A wise decision, have them synch the carbs after the valve adjustment, too.

i don't know man, i was a little hesitant about doing my own valve adjustment, but kerry's kit made it a snap.  He'll walk you through each step and it makes it very easy to do.  If you had fun with an oil change, you'll love this.  It's good to know.  Save you some cash too.

I have not had to do anything with my carbs yet... but i will.
