i put in an oil additive to clean the bike. now i have lost oil pressure when the bike gets warm. should i try putting things in like engine restore to hopefuly gunk it back up so that it gets pressure? my carbs are out of wack and synk what needs to be dont to them back N'synk goin right?
lost oil pressure? or your sending unit screwed up. an additive wont generaly cause pressure loss, excessive bearing clearance will do that very well however.
What did you put in? That crap that is supposed to clean all the engine deposits? I've heard some really bad stories about that stuff....I won't touch it....
Sea foam is supposedly good stuff, but I've never used it myself. Don't know about any oil additive detergents.
And who knows what it will do to our clutches?
Sea foam is so thin and sorta ammonia and kerosene mix ... it can be added to gas and oil ... I just think its going to do a bit of cleaning and burn out in oil ... In gas ... OK same thing ...
Cool.

It is possible that the channel going to the oil pressure sensor has got blocked or the additive has thinned out the oil. Drain all the oil and put new oil in.
Maybe the additive loosened something that now clogged the sensor.
it doesnt turn the oil light on until its warm and it starts to kill the motor as soon after it does come on.
What was the additive?
jeff
the additive was red. some guy put it in my bike, he swore by it on his own bikes. i put new oil in and their was a bit of metal on the megnetic drain plug. i thought it was fixed got about 3 miles from home and the bike started acting like it did when the oil light came on before but the oil light wasnt on now. i turned off the bike and the oil light still didnt come on. i might be close to ruining the motor. im thinking now its probly just pluged the oil pump up with metal shards. thankfuly people are quick to pick up hitch hikers with helmets.
Was it Marvel Mystery Oil????
If it was red, and watery, it was probably marvel mystery oil. In small amounts it shouldn't cause any problems.
I'd drain everything out, fill it with fresh oil, and see what happens.
jeff
yeah it was marval mystery oil.
I put marvel mystery oil in my gasoline every 10th tank or so..
I put an entire can in my truck tank when I tow..
Seems to be good stuff for high stress..
