Title: really wierd happenings with my gs
Post by: banner on July 28, 2005, 10:17:32 PM
i've had this wierd problem with my bike sticking at 3k after hard revving when i'd come to a stop. It would come down to normal idle speeds after 20 seconds at a stop. I could manually bring the idle down as well by pulling in the clutch.

At first i thought it was dirty carbs so i ran a few treatments of carb cleaner down the tank. It didn't change a thing.

Now when i bought this bike there was no maintanence history at all. ITs a 94 gs500e with 10k on it.

Today i got around to changing the oil filter(i'd changed the oil about 2k before) and suddenly it doesn't stick at 3k anymore.

My question is...how dirty would an oil filter have to be to make that sort of a difference??? I can't figure out why an oil filter would do that??

Maybe the oil filter had nothing to do with it. Sounds to me like a sticky throttle. Either the throttle cable sticking from a split in the cable or dirt, or the carb needle is damaged and sticking.

hmm...now that you mention it... the bike was knocked down last night on the throttle hand side.

Maybe that fixed it
