Title: Skatebord Gear / Funny world.
Post by: Cal Price on August 01, 2005, 12:03:54 PM
I'm parking in town today near a small park with an area set aside for boarders and stunt pedal cycles etc,.

A young guy on a scooter follows me in, he is sitting on a skateboard set across his scooter seat so it's fairly obvious where he's going. He is wearing a helmet but no gloves. He gets off his bike, stows the helmet under the seat, gets out gloves, puts 'em on and whoooshes off on the board.

Is it me? Am I missing something?

My guess is he has never fallen off his scooter.   But probably falls off that skateboard 10x/hour.

yet hasn't fallen off his board onto his head yet.  I had friends who wore helmets only when they rode vert ramps, but not when they rode street courses or just tricked out in the world.  Never made much sense to me.

And the scooter thing...sheesh...I don't understand why people think scooters don;t require at least some protective clothing.  Bluejeans, boots and gloves at the very least.  Lots of morons in DC riding their scoooters with shorts and flip flops.  Saw a guy wearing a damn bicycle helmet the other day---WITH THE STRAPS UNDONE.  Then again, I see guys with shorts and flip-flops riding RR bikes on the highway, so go figure.  Some people are just asking to get hurt.
