I cant seem to find it in my clymer manual.. anyone know the gap for the two little distributor cap/rotor type things inside the pulse generator cover??? I looked at mine and it seems that one is gaped more than the other :dunno:

The Suzuki or Haynes manuals do not offer a spec on it either. I noticed on one in my "collection" that it had one side closer because the magnet portion was bent! I gently straightend it up like its neighbor.
Make sure your rotor is not wobbling and then turn the engine over with the large nut section of the rotor and check the gaps that way. You could loosen the plugs to make the rotation easier. The gaps should be equal AND the magnetic "finger" sticking up out of the coil should be perpendicular to the sig gen plate.
I suspect that you would have to be seriously off, let's say 5 mm, before you noticed misfiring of the large gapped cylinder. The sig generator triggers the electronic module to pulse the HV coils. A neat experiment would be to insert some electronics between the sig gen and the Ignitor Module. You could then vary the firing by delaying or advancing the pulses.

:) thanks for the help. Do you know what the gap should be though? I guess I can make them both the same, but is it better for the gap to be very short or a little more open?? :cheers: For now I guess I will try both :thumb:
Its inductive ... I'll say the closest after the whole thing comes up to full temp ... would be the best/most reliable ... yea rotor bent into a banana = bad.
