guy wants $1300 for the bike with 12,000 miles. Looks to be in pretty good condition. What do you guys think? Fair price? I've been riding a Rebel for 6 months, lookin' for somethin' sportier now. What is your advice and opinions? Are the engines pretty bulletproof like Hondas? Don't know much about Suzuki other than I like how they look. Thanks in advance! :)

Ride it before you decide but $1300 sounds like a deal to me.

NADA says $850-1,100 I would offer him 1,000-1,100 :) I wouldnt pay 13 unless it is in A1 condition or has mods, like exaust and stuff :) . Make sure to take it for a ride, and look over the trouble spots..(check the upkeap.. (tires, chain looks lubed and good, oil isnt spent, etc... BE PICKY, he will drop the price. :thumb:
imho 1300 for a 94 is a good deal as long as its in decent condition
89-2000 are all the same
2001-2003 are the same except bodywork and carbs
2004 and 2005 are the same except they have fairings, different carbs, and some electrical differences
if the bike runs and doesn't look like total poo, that's a good price...especially during the riding season.

I go for NADA over KBB. Don't be afraid to be firm on the price - there are a lot of GSs running around, if you're patient.
I paid $700 for my '89 and it turned out to be a POS.
I've since rebuilt the motor. If that sucker runs good (12,000 miles is pretty low), I say that is a good deal.
And who can be patient when it comes to buying a motorcycle? :)
I bought my 96' for $1,400. with 4,500 mi on it. but that was a steal! anyways, I think $1,300 is a good deal.
It's the end of the riding season so prices should be coming down - you can probably get him down a hundred or two.
Early in the riding season, there is next to no way in hell that you would be able to buy an older, used GS in good condition for less than KBB retail unless you know the owner or get lucky. There are a lot of GS's around but they are also always in demand as beginner bikes. It took me almost 3 months of looking before I found mine.
Offer him 600, you can always go up, but you cant come down if you offer 1100. I got my 99 for 400CND :) deal of the century.
Take along a flash light and take a peek in the tank for rust.
Pull the seat off and make sure the battery drain hose has been connected and that the tray has rusted out.
I agree with others that you could probably get it for a couple hundred less.
It will feel like a sport bike after riding the rebel.
