The frame looks too dark to be a '96, so it must be powdercoated. You guys did damn good work; that things is SHARP!
One question: Where did you get that HUMUNGOUS can? FZR1000 (I don't see an EXUP valve, but...)? Maybe an old GSX-R1100? Details, man, we want DETAILS!

The can looks like it came off an R6. I'm curious for the truth though.
Where did you get the tail section from?

my two cents for what's worth.
hand paint the lower fork tubes black with yellow verticle flames.
yellow belly pan to tie in the front of the bike (you have this large black blob there)
tweak the can up about three degrees to match the lower tail line.
sand the edges of the coolling fins and paint them yellow
paint headlight bucket black.
black plastic cover to fill the gap between the tail tank and frame
bikini fairing?

Those are somewhat where its going. I was planing to paint the lower fork tubes black. Change the can mount ( which I have already, just havent mounted) didnt think about painting the cooling fins but will now. I was just going to Sand them off but the paint Idea is killer!
Yeah I want a belly pan for it so bad. all I can find tho is just lower cowling.
Anyone have a line on a full belly pan? or even a cheap lower cowling?

Tell us what paint that is (Dupli-Color, Krylon, Rustoleum), and what shade of yellow; my nephew came by and saw the pics of your paint work on my monitor, and NOW he wants me to paint his computer case "bumblebee", like your GS!
Don't forget, you can also paint the brake calipers and rotor carriers to match the tank and bodywork. Nothing wrong with the black calipers and gold carriers just as they are, but something to consider...

I zig-zagged some purple in, on the tail, and put some purple on the (91 gsxr )upper.
The frame was powder coated black. The gas cap was black.
I went to a local " Fastsigns" sign shop, and had them laser-cut some Purple Suzuki tank decals. (those guys, can make anything).
This is my 1990 racebike. Total loss wiring harness, a 1.5 pound scooter battery. Home made rearset brackets with GSXR shift linkage, and rear brake lever. 36mm stock carbs from a gsxr750. Progressive front end.
Home made frame slider (these worked mostly as a tank saver, and i will always have these from now on, on a racebike)
Removed starter, counterbalancer, flywheel, degreed cams, 1mm oversized titanium exhaust valves, manual camchain tensioner, 1mm overbored cylinders, pistons are lightend (piston skirts were cut shorter, and relieved) airtech clip-ons.

Your racebike is AWESOME! :thumb: :thumb::thumb: Where do you run that thing? When is the next race? It's a damn shame if you don't have a webpage featuring all the details about the work you've done to it, and your obvious success with it. Also, I have to ask; have you written-up the steps to fabricate the frame sliders / tank savers? What about the home-made rearsets? Do you have any photos?
OK, so I hijacked the thread; I'll bet a lot of other people would like to know those answers as well.

This bike was raced at Willow Springs (1:35:4) (here in southern California), and Phoenix.
I sold the bike, and have not kept track of it.
The frame sliders were made from a 3/4 in chunk of HDPE (High Density Poly-Ethylene) I routed the edges, recessed to bolt holes. I drilled two holes (on each side) of my frame, and inserted riv-nuts. The rearsets. I just triangulated new locations for the footpegs, by going up and back 2".
I made an aluminum triangle, with the insides cut out, and a footpeg hole with the shape to accommodate the GSXR pegs and linkage.
