My Mom is from Ramore in northern Ontario.  Does that make me a "half Canuck" GS rider?

I know, I know -- you wanted to know about GS riders that LIVE in Canada....

Sorry, couldn't resist.  ;)

Calgary for me.

Come down to race City to see my GS in action. The next race is June 7 and 8th. It is a Nationals round, so all the top Canadian riders will be there, and there will be lots of racing. Probably in the rain, if history is any indication!

I run Veteran's (over 40 old guys) and Sportsman Light.

sorry to mildly hijack the thread, but a question regarding canada here. i was planning in late june driving my truck (with gs in back)from east tn up to windsor on., while my friend takes my truck to massena ny. i plan on riding from windsor to cornwall on. and accross to massena. will i have any trouble with customs, i.e. what do i need to bring? thanks for the help. i figured you all could help, or at least assist, considering you live there, and have a better knowledge of the laws than i do. again thanks :thumb:

i don't know for sure if you use the bridge....i know for sure that motorcycles are not allowed to use the tunnel..i think that you can use the bridge because i see a lot of motorcycles with US plates in downtown on saturday nights so there's got to be a way to get to canada/usa on your bike
i'll see if i can find more info on the bridge

I made trips to B.C. and Alberta these past two summers.  The absolute best way to go is to get an official U.S. passport, which is good for 10 years these days.  It will cost you, especially if you need it quick, but it will allow you to take that spur-of-the-moment trip to lots of places besides Canada if you ever get the opportunity.

It used to be that a certified copy of your birth certificate - along with photo ID like a driver's license - was sufficient to cross the border.  But make sure you know in advance.  In fact, make sure you know what it will take to get back IN to the U.S.  That can be the tougher border crossing depending on the port of entry, the officer on duty, etc.

Last year it was no big deal for my brother to cross into B.C. from north-central Washingon by showing just a U.S. driver's license.  This year my Dad did the same thing (I had a passport) but they gave him a semi hard time dropping out of B.C. into Montana.  The man said that his boss (the president) said that next time he (my dad) should really bring a passport along.  And this port of entry was in the middle of nowhere - not a happenin' place like populated Ontario.

Oh, I also had to pop one of my luggage bags to show the U.S. officer a can of Nalley's chili (with BEEF!) that we had bought in Golden, B.C.  Luckily it was a "Product of the USA" so no problems there....

Hope this helps!

PS - For printable passport application forms, go to http://travel.state.gov/get_forms.html.  My wife and I turned ours in at a (designated) local post office, although we could have gone to the county or federal building as well, I think.

yeah, when my friend and myself went to windsor last year, (spur of the moment) getting in wasnt a hassle ....much, got detained at customs. all we had were dl's, they let us in, but on way back into us, they almost didnt. did finally after heated discussions, at least they didnt see the cuban cigars ;) but yeah, ive got a little time, will look into a passport. could probably use one anyway :thumb: thanks :thumb:
