Title: Anybody ever make a Carbon Fiber Gas Tank yet?

Havent been on in a while, just wondering what happened to the two guys who said they could make carbon fiber parts... has anyone made a cf tank yet?  Just curious, lata

Well the one fellow making CF parts is still around, but I don't think a tank design is on his list of things to do. Maybe think about, but not a firm to do.

Fuel tanks may be suject to DOT regs and approval. Even the racing crowd would have something to say about a CF tank that just appeared on the scene.

That said, a CF tank cover or something like it would probably be given a clean bill of health as a cosmetic mod.

I'd rather see a stainless steel version of the old style tank. Cleaning and lining the old steel ones is a headache.

As for me, I am NOT going to make one. There are too many issues related to them.

no tanks in my future, i'll stick to the huggers.
