Title: Problems with the Wileyco
Post by: ajgs500 on August 17, 2005, 10:42:22 PM
So I have a few problems.
1)  I lost a bolt that connects the flange to the bike.
2)  The can rubs that bolt that sticks out of the back brake.

Any suggestions?????????????????

Yea ... shove it away and cinch down to foot peg ... takes a fair bit of shoving  ... Lost bolt ... you mean one of the button head allens ... get a regular allen in that size ... 8mm dia and like 20-25 mm length
Cool.

Ok no matter how hard i push, pull or whatever the damn thing wants to angle back into that bolt.  Could the flange be uneven so that it pushes the can back to the bolt.  We messed with a variety of angle when we put the flange on the pipe but to miss the rear break etc it had to be this way?? I am stumped.  Please help!!!

had simular troubles with alignment, but just losten the strap, and move around until it is in the right position. It will take a bit of muscle work, but it can be done, mine now sits a comfortable inch from the brake bolt. Dont give up, it will work.
Title: My flange
Post by: The Buddha on August 18, 2005, 08:39:42 AM
OK was it my flange ??? I sent them outward more ... atleast the newest batch ... Anyway still same solution ... crank on it outwards and cinch the bolt down to foot peg carrier ... BTW you can open up the slide on end and shade and give it that extra bit of room then tack it back in the right angle ...
Cool.

It was your flange. It was for my 2001 GS500, I wrecked before having a chance to put it on my bike, so I sold it to ajgs500.

Was the flange you sent me for the newer GS500's or the older ones? I believe ajgs500 has a 2001 GS as well.

ok so I think we fixed the problem.  Solution a sh$$ load of washers in front of the footpeg carrier and a longer bolt.  Another thing it probably was a combination of issues with the flange? and I have dropped the bike before on that side so the carrier could have been a little tweeked.  Damn cat just jumped on the keyboeard......  Thanks for all of the help.  I'll keep you posted on to how this works.

kinda but now the flange on the header pipe is loose and I'm afraid it's gonna leak so I need to get atleast a couple tacks on there to hold it in place.
