Title: moment of enlightenment
Post by: ktrim on August 23, 2005, 02:23:52 PM
Had some time to just sit and think today (been along time since I had a moment )  and this is what ive come up with.  for most of us,  this is it work everday,  wait for weekends,  2 weeks a year to go on vacation,  Thats it.  when were 70 years old,  our kids are grown up and gone, then we get time off (thats screwed).  What i'm getting at is when it comes to my family there are no more somedays, or maybe tomorrows, or next weekends.  I don't rember when money became so important that a man cant take time to go to the park with his kids because he has to work.  I'm eliminating every bill I have,  not buying anything else,  and spend as much time with my family as I can bacause someday either they or me will be gone!!  Some one will be crying "if we only had 1 more day"  I want my one more day NOW!!!!

I took some time to reflect today at lunch and I too had a moment of enlightenment. I really like teriyaki chicken over white rice. Add in a little side salad or some chips and you have yourself some pure eating heaven. :thumb:

My moment of enlightenment came when I realized that....while I need to wear earplugs....I really *hate* the little foamy ones!  :dunno:

P.S. Costco has this great, cheap teriyaki sauce...excellent on salmon!!

you're thinking about it wrong. Like everyone else in today's "I-can-have-it-all" society you think you dont have time for your family because of everything else you have going on. Most likely stuff you had going on when you were single or childless at least.

Having children means adjusting how you think of the world and your place in it. It means reexamining why you work; why you work more than 40 hrs a week. It means readjusting your schedule so that you dont commute 1 hr each way to work. It means giving up most weekends, or most of all weekends, to spend with the family at the park (or just goofing around at home). it means you have to become selfless.

I appologize, but this thead started out WAY too serious.  I'm happy for you and your decision.  It is the right decision.  I'm glad I've been able to spend a good deal of time with my parents.  I'm glad they whipped my ass when I was bad.  I'm glad they taught me what they did, and I'm still learning from them, but...

I"m not a big fan of teryaki. :P

At least you get weekends off.  Try getting one weekend off every month, and working 7 days straight.  I'm married, 2 children, 3 dogs, 1 cat, 1 ferret, upkeep on 3 cars 1 truck and a bike and remodeling an old house.

The time I spend with my kids.....  they help me work on the vehicles and house.  Ever see a 5 year hang drywall?  buff a car out?  shovel dog poo up?...............    :thumb:

It's priceless.....   I try to involve my kids in everything.... except fun time with the wife
