I stopped at a gas station to get some gas in the bike and get a snack. While setting outside I seen a big black sport bike pull into the gas station. He was a older man with grey hair in a pony tail with sunglasses and a black leather jacket..... Riding a black Hayabusa polished and chromed out. It was decked out and spotless.
I started to talk to him about his bike, his first sport bike. He said he has ridden motorcycles for years and still has two other HD's, a Road King and a New Street Rod. I thought is was funny when he called his Busa his commuter, because it was smaller than the others :? . His total insurance for all 3 bikes was around $1300 a year. ( I got quoted $2397 full coverage on a GSXR 1000, Hayabusa, R1)
All in all we talked for about 10 to 15 minutes and we pulled out and went down the road a little ways together. I can't remember all the tings he said was done to the bike. When I went to take my exit he waved and took off....I couldn't even hear my bike.
It was awesome.
Mid-life crisis or small pee pee take your pick.

He was retired. 63 years old. So he might be a little late on the mid-life thing.
Ok small pee pee it is.    :thumb:

No sheeot. :x
where does one put chrome on a Hayabusa?
The exhaust, swingarm, frame, wheels, forks all looked to be either polished, chromed, powdercoated, shined. It did not have a stock appearance.

Answer.... EVERWHERE!
to me chrome on sportbikes seems somehow wrong.

Uh... Yeah.
Unless it's your helmet. :thumb:

that's cuz it is
besides, im scared of busas
I see nothing wrong with a little chrome or polished parts on a sport bike. If all you see is plastic it looks like a cheap childrens toy.

I agree with this part...
Chrome is ok, but not my fav... Plastic sucks...
Metal... Wires... Rubber... That's all you need!

I like fairings but I like to see some parts shine too.
If my paint wasn't in pretty good condition, I'd already have a matte black GS. Everything but the engine... Looks SICK!!! :thumb:

Metal is heavy. Plastic and Fiberglass.

i agree....but completely chromed out should be left for choppers and such...
c'mon...a "lil" chrome never hurt nobody...is that from a rap song or something or am i just dumb :)
I can't imagine a rap song making reference to a little chrome. It's a lot or nuttin'.
Reminds me of Soap from Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels - "A little pain never hurt anybody..."
maybe that's it...
now that i think about it...rap=little chrome...not in this lifetime...
seems this thread reminds me of this wonderful busa i saw a pic of on barf:

Unneeded... You gonna build your engine and frame out of Plastic and Fiberglass? No... METAL!
Anything other than that is just extra crap... Well... That and the seat. But, I guess you don't even need the seat on your new bike... :thumb:

He missed a few parts...
I mean... If you're gonna chrome the plastic, you might as well hit up the wheels and exhaust.
Yeah....in fact, those handgrips, mirrors, and the seat could all use a little bling! :thumb:
He could do a steel-mesh sort of thing for the seat... The mirrors would be easy...
But..... I figured chrome wheels and exhaust would be the first things someone would do. :dunno:
And streamers...those metallic ones...definitely needs streamers. ;)

+1 on the streamers. That bike is disgusting. Looks like a UFO or something

That's an insult to UFO's!
In English one says I "saw" a nice bike today.
Is that a hack saw or bone saw?
