Loking for any way to add some low end to my '92 GS500E. I have a V+H on it already. Gearing, carb work, anything??? I ride on some seriously tight turning roads and I want more snap out of the turns. (Northern CA Hwy 36 and Hwy 299) :dunno:

I Second that.
I found great improvements in rideability sub 30MPH with a 15 tooth front sprocket.
Between 30 and 60 the bike definately has a bit more pull. Not much, but noticeable.
Above 60 the bike still runs fine just at slightly higher revs, however you can now get better pull out of 6th gear so the top speed isn't really effected at all. with a 16 tooth front sprocket my bike wouldn;t get above 6000 RPM in even a slight headwind, now it manages to fight the wind a bit better.
If you are running super tight turns I would go even deeper than 15/39 on the gearing. Without knowing your RPM range I can't really help but I bet something in the range of a 43 on the rear would give you the snap you are looking for. This is with a 15 on the front too.
You can make up for a lot with gearing, just don't expect to go passing people down any long straights.
Thanks alot. My bike red lines at 11k. The longest strait road within 50 miles of me is no more than a mile. Up here you get good at turns fast, or you get dead. I'm really lucky, because we have riders show up in this rural county (Trinity) from all over the world. I want to give this bike to my wife, because I have been looking at the new SV1000's. Thanks again.
