I'm painting it in a couple of weeks. Tell me what you think. Any ideas?

God I love it. if I painted mine it'd be orange too.
Why don't you paint the grab rail white too?
Looks good and a real nice photochop job too :thumb:
I'm too cheap to do something that nice. I was thinking of going flat black but after seeing some really nice GS in the Hall of Fame I'm starting to rethink that.
This winter I'm taking the bike apart and painting EVERYTHING from the engine cases, frame, swing-arm, wheels, bodywork, etc. . .
I still haven't decided completely on the plan but I think I'm going to paint the frame something really obnoxious like the Buell Neuclar Blue or Metallic Safety Orange
That looks really good. Are you going to paint it yourself or are you going to send it out? But, I definately wouldn't change it. And for some reason I really like the S on the front fender.
Thanks,
I dunno, I might go white on the grab rail. That "S" was a last minute thing to laugh at and it stuck. I don't have the facilities to paint it myself. I'm still shopping on who will paint it.

Depending on the paint and prep you can probably have a good job done for around $300. Any less that that and they're probably skimping on something. Find someone who's work you can see.
There's a local guy here in KC that does great work quite reasonably. He'll put ART on your bike (and I mean art too, really nice quality stuff) for about $500-600
Oh yeah, definately have to see their work. Any negative things? Although I do love to hear that it's cool. (because thats what it was meant to be!)

Well since you asked for a bit of a critique:
Overall I love the scheme but there are a few places I would do differently so here they are, for discussions sake:
1)the swooping on the side panels-front of the vent I would have follow the side panel lines instead of tryoing to pick up the swooping of the tank.
2) I would make the 'Suzuki' on the tank look more factory-just like you did for the rear 'gs500' sticker-larger and higher on the tank (same as on 2002 model maybe)
3)I'd ditch the 'S' on the fender and if you have to have something I'd use a michelin man sticker there instead (more race 'inspired'). Otherwise I'd leave it solid orange.
4) think about a white/grey stripe on the TOP of the front fender, not shown in picture.
5) paint grab rail white
other things to consider:
a)reupholster seat (second skins?) with white rear portion, leaving black in place
b)painting wheels orange w/polished edges ala Z1000
c)orange(?) headlight fairing
d)less rear fender :nana:
e)white solo seat cowl (when I get around to having a mold made!)
the idea is a great one and I'm sure It'll look great as is.
Those are my opinions...
how do those "great" white wheels look with the polished edge? anybody have any ideas how to keep them somewhat clean, besides not riding at all?
Snowman, what's the name of the guy who does custom paint jobs?
A friend of mine was looking into getting his dropped CBR repainted with the Pecote "Jester" head on it. He won't be back to work until Tuesday and I'll forget all about it by then. E-mail me a reminder black_snowman#yahoo.com
Very Nice..!!
Tres chic, n'est pas?! Kinda reminds me of the scheme on the original GSX550 (not the colour, just the design.) We will all need to see the thing in the flesh (or pictures I guess) once you've got the job done.
i like it :thumb:
Ok Guys,
Gimmy two weeks and she'll be born.
I'll keep your comments in mind pablo. Although, you are crazy to not like that "S" on the fender. I played around with white and grey on it, but just couldn't get it to look right. Orange works the best.
oh, and also, I am going for originality points here. thats why the suzuki is diff. I tried it like the 2002, but this looks much more retro.

Orange = Harley Racing colors...

Just in case you wanted to be mistaken for a sportster :P
Also kinda like the 2003 SV650!
:o That looks kick ass! :thumb:

Can I ask how you do that in photoshop? I have PS7 and Im ok on it but I have no clue how to change the colours like that....
Id love to be able to mess around and come up with some paintjobs for mine....
Wow, that looks really nice. Maybe you should sell designs :thumb:
I saw a picture of a bike that was rhino-coated once (I think it was on a different list). Rhino-coating if you don't know is the spray on rubber compound they put in truck beds. Comes out bumpy but protects the truck and is pretty sturdy.
As an experiment, someone rhino-coated all the paintable surfaces on the bike. Looked funky, and no more dents :) the only down side was that the rhino-coating started white but turned green over time from sun exposure! And it didn't change evenly.
Trev
oooh! orange creme cycle?
especially if you used the metallic aztec orange
... you need to figure out how to get the emblem on the case orange too, lol, instead of black
Way too sweet! I like I like!
You guys are too much... I will be working on my bike more than riding it soon! Course I enjoy that almost as much! :thumb:
Very cool looking :thumb: and you did a great job on that pic.
I personally love orange bikes almost as much as Saturn Black ;)
I do agree with Pablo on the S on the fender. Michelin man would be cooler IMO.
Have you tried reversing the white and orange on the tail? That way you keep the orange pointing up and the white pointing down. I do not know if it would be much better but maybe.
Actually no, I never tried reversing it. I can't really explain how to change the colors and keep the shading. I don't have a week to type this out, but all I can say is I played around, thats what I did for a while. Cut out the parts you wish to change and create layers that you can take on and off. The color change is simply changing the pigment and keeping all the black in it. :thumb:
Now I am gonna have to buy a white helmet. sheesh
-Anti
*orange* helmet... have seen some around, a couple on e-bay
Looks great. I love the retroish style.
Quote from: The AntibodyNow I am gonna have to buy a white helmet. sheesh
I wonder if you could get them to paint your helmet to match at the same time? That would complete the look!
It probably messes with the safety properties. :(
Pablo,
I definatley will go for a rear seat cowl if you produce it. :thumb:

I think it's rancid...sorry, you asked.
Quote from: pizzleboyI think it's rancid...sorry, you asked.
Maybe you'd like to offer some constructive criticism? What don't you like about it? is it a color choice issue maybe, or is there a better graphic layout of the colors in your opinion?
What makes it rancid to you?
Don't worry Pablo, he's just a Canadian. :nana:
All joking aside, It's not a subtle scheme. I figured it would be a love or hate sorta thing. Thats just the first hate.

Thats cool. He can think what he does about it but I am seriously curious about
why he (or anyone else) might not like it...specifically so that they might provide you with a certain objective critique. You can take it or leave it but it would be interesting to me to hear specific reactions...
Heh, maybe if we submit cool enough paint jobs Suzuki will bring it back.
What..... it could happen..... small chance..... ok, maybe not.
-Anti
Enjoy your paint colour. I'm just not a fan of bright orange.
You have every right to like anything you want. The question you posed was what do you think of the new paint, not tell me how much you love my paint.
So, Pantablo: perhaps it was a bit short, but that's me.
ANtibody: Enjoy your rancid paint
oh, the LAYOUT was very stylish...
Hey since I am a browns fan also maybe you could put browns decals on it instdead of suzuki :thumb:
Now THAT would be cool ;)
What drives a man to be a Browns fan?

That paint scheme is cool. I always have liked orange. In fact, it was an orange GS500E on my university campus I saw one day that turned me on to this bike. I can't wait to see the finished job on it!
I def like it. Def. Post a pic of it when it is done!
The colors are definately Antibody...check the avatar... ;)
Now, about the 'S' on the fender...the old Katana's had that 'S' on the tank...perhaps it would fit there a little better. Just seems like the fender should be clean. My .02 worth.
Ok, here's mine...
...I like it too!
I wouldn't change a thing.
The grab handle being silver just adds to the effect!
IMO painting it white would "blur" the effect.
Good job!
C V Man
Kick Ass!

Can you believe it's not finished yet? I've been calling the shop consistantly to no avail. After weeks of them not answering, or returning my messages, they pick up. They decide to tell me now (3 1/2 weeks later) that the silver code is wrong (13L). I told them THEY are wrong. That paint code is right. So, he talked and talked..... I wasn't really paying any attention.
Well, to wrap this all up, this guy is an awsome painter, but sorely lacks business skills. I gave him shaZam!, and now finally he's going past the sanding and priming stages. He was just going to let my stuff sit there without telling me about his delema. Can you believe that?
Remember when I said two weeks, geez.
-Anti :x
I was wondering how i missed the unveiling. :?
I've been wondering if it was finished yet. Please post a picture when it's done. The paint scheme is AWESOME! I would love it if my bike looked like that. Maybe if I get my bike repainted, I could hire you to design a look for mine!
Laura
3 weeks with no riding :o That is no fun at all.
love the paint job.
have you seen the icon helmet that has the same colors?
I'd go really well with your newly painted bike.
Well, it's too late now (since the bike's being painted - hopefully - as I type), but I love that bike! It's very retro, very sweet. Love the color.
would this helmet look sweet with Anti's new paint or what?
Thats hilarious slush! I already bought that helmet. Good taste man.
Sprint,
It's terrible! I feel like I got bugs crawlin all over me. I need to ride!
-Anti
kick ass !! I would definately go with painting the bar white too, though. other than that, that looks great!!!!
i almost thought that maybe you got the idea for the bike from the helmet.
I'm thinking of buying the same helmet. (different color.)
what do you think of it?
i've heard that for an inexpensive helmet it's pretty nice. I've tried one on and I love the way it fits, but I'm a little bit worried about how the padding will hold up over time.
Here's a jacket that will go with your scheme too... lol
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6750&item=2423304792
It's a nice helmet slush. I love the top pop-up vent. It's comfy, has a quick release visor, removable lining, all that crap. Mine still has to break in(obviously because I haven't ridden since I bought it) It's funny, you'd think I would have come up with the paint from the helmet. To the contrary, I said well, now that the bike is being painted, I need a helmet to look good. I went to www.helmetharbor.com which I recomend, and there it was!

Edit: I called the painters, bitched and it will be ready for inspection and clearcoat on Tues. Awesome!
