Title: Louder more impressive horn ?
Post by: scottpA_GS on August 31, 2005, 03:30:51 PM
Hey..

Anyone have a horn on the GS from another bike? Im looking for the ones that sound kinda like a dual horn/pitch train I guess  :dunno:  I have heard some on superbikes before but I dont know what they where  :mrgree n:

BTW my horn on the GS almost never works when I accutaly need it.. only when I just want to beep it to see if it works :) ... When some old lady is about to back into me :o  (click.. click ) NEVER!!

Anyone else have probs w/ the horn button ?

My Breva has absolutely the loudest, most penetrating (aurally) horn of any vehicle I've owned.  It might be worthwhile to pick one of those up.  That puppy commands attention.

Check and clean your contacts to the button... I think there's a relay in there, too.

Did you try to adjust the little, teeny-tiny screw on the back of the horn?

There was a post on this a while back....yes it does make a difference, play around with that screw for a while until you get the right tone.

Yep - it's what attaches the horn to the metal tab that it's ... attached to.

if you want a louder horn you would have to replace the current one with a larger one, which means lots more amperage.  Unless you could somehow rig up a mini compressor.

The only way to get a dual-tone horn is to have two SEPERATE horns. You can fabricate a bracket that will hold two instead of one fairly easily as well. My father did it on his FZ1, sans fairing. Looks nice, sounds nice.

I thought the horn on the GS was pretty damn loud, more so than most cars I've heard.

Really? I've always been under the impression that my horn, if it was speaking would be saying in a little old lady's voice, "Excuse me! Oh sir. Sir? Excuse me, sir!"

I'll blast my Breva for Dave and have him attest to its attention-getting capabilities.
