I just got a parking ticket for having my bike in a car's parking spot.
Are you serious? hahaha. Throw it in the garbage.
wtf? is that what the ticket said?
ghey.
Was it on a college campus? Here at UT there are designated places for both, and it is very specific. No cars in motorcycle (M) spots, no motorcycles in car (C or R) spots. No one but faculty in F spots. No one but administrators in A spots.
Ditto here. They have nice parking areas for bikes, and parking for cars is tight, so on the weekdays - no cars in bike zones, no bikes in car zones. I can understand that.
On the weekend, things aren't as tight, so a bike can park in a car spot with no issues.

Same here, but I love getting to tell people that I pay $40 for parking all summer and get to park 200ft from the building while they park 1/4-1/2 mile away and pay $35 each month ;)

Anyone ride an 05 Yellow GS at University of California, Riverside?
Well, i just got back from parking services and they told me what some of you guys are saying. It's very specific. We, as riders get special privileges and we have to abide by our rules. Parking Services WAS cool enough to tell me they'd dismiss the ticket and paint in some new MC spots so that I can park my bike iin front of my apartment. I live in campus housing that's off campus and there's no MC spaces here yet. Oh yeah, I'm at SWT in San Marcos.

well that was cool of them.

Yeah, so I graduated eary from a CS degree... and then went to work for the UC.... I don't think I'll ever leave this campus. I'm doomed...
We've got motorcycle spots in most big parking lots here up near the pregnant women and handicapped spots which is nice but its friggin retarded to get a ticket for using a car spot because motorcycles are entitled to one completely to themselves. Half the time the pregnant women park half over the motorcycle spots anyways ;)
Where do you work that they have pregnant women spots?

I disagree. If the U thinks of motorcyclists enough to give us designated motorcycle parking spaces - and cares enough to make them under cover and close to the building (Health Sciences), not to mention making the fee for parking so much cheaper than the car fee - it's pretty rude of us to go ahead and take up an entire car space. That's the thinkin' that will lose us parking altogether. The cagers say - "They can park in our spaces, so we should park in theirs!"

Probably Wal-Mart? I know they do. And I agree with Roadstergal, if they give us the spots and the fee discount for specific motorcycle parking spots, we should use them. It is good to see some places embracing motorcycles as legitimate vehicles. :thumb:
Where I work, we don't have dedicated parking spaces for bikes, but we do have a section of one small lot that is basucally where most of the bikes park. Not for any particular reason; just so they are all parked close togerther I guess. :dunno:

On this note, I agree with you in that we should respect what PS has done for bikes. Ours are not under cover and are actually 5$ more than car stickers. I don't mind that, but I don't take up one whole spot to myself. I had my neighbors SV in the same spot.
Around here there is no different parking for motorcycles. It is every person for themself.
Though they do have bicycle racks at some places.
Atlantic Wholesalers: Superstore, Atlantic Wholesalers: Costco, Walmart, Home Depot and Home Hardware are the only ones I can think of that have bike spots, they're good and close to the door, by the handicap and expecting mothers spots but they're not marked as motorcycle spots so they're usually taken by cars because theres noting there saying they have to be handicapped or pregnant to use them. When I first saw then I thought they were just spacers so that less flexible handicapped or pregnant persons wouldn't have to twist so far to avoid hitting a car parked beside them in one of the non-reserved spots. But this is public parking so no one has to pay to park anywhere and I'm not ungreatful for these spots but legally, here anyways, a motorcycle is entitled to an entire parking spot and if its the choice of the motorcyclist to park there instead of in a motorcycle only spot for one reason or another I don't htink its grounds for ticketing.
We have designated spots for MC's here at work and you better believe I make the security truck guys write tickets to the cars parked in them.
I don't think it should matter if you parked in a "car" space. Does it say car parking only? I would prolly thow it away also, or hang it on my wall.
Work is good... The "sales person of the month" spot is next to the front door and really wide, just wide enough for about five sportbikes. If it's too crowded we park on the sidewalk..
Sales person of the month always gets screwed in the summer!
Out in cali we just hop the curb and park it under the front awning on the sidewalk,( out of the way of course) and I have'nt yet had a problem. I've done this at K-mart, Wal-mart, Home Depot, 7-11, AM-PM, etc, etc, etc.
