how bout the suzuki DR 400?  Honda XR400?  MY brother has a Yamaha WR400 bored out to a 426 that he hasn't ridden in three years, that I'm trying to get off him and convert into a motard.

Actually, I think suzuki is making a supermoto for the US this year

DRZ400SM is about 30HP. DRZ400E puts out more HP than the S or SM models mainly due to having higher compression ratio and a better carby.

i can attest to the DRZ 400. its a SOLID bike, my buddy has one that has been dumped over 30 times including by some stunting and it fires up every damn time, he does the normal maint on it but he aint a weekend warrior either, he beats hell outa all his bikes.

worth every penny to be honnest.
the Honda are pretty good too, ive got an 83 XL250R that im trying to get dialed in but the carb is screwed, and im not that good at rejetting oversized carbs so ive been useing the XL500 carb i have as parts.

Im thinking about buying a DRZ in a month or so. ITS VERY VERY TEMPTING, lol. Debating between a 250 dirtbike, a 450 quad or a motard :). Got alot of thinkin to do.

www.supermotojunkie.com is a good all round SM site, also www.thumpertalk.com has a great section on *anything* you want to know about the DRZ's.
