Why not try the Progressives with your 5w fork oil? I think there's a consensus building that 15w is too harsh for the street.
I, too, like forks to gobble up pavement irregularities in corners where firm suspension might throw me off my line. But, too soft and every little twitch on the bars, weight shift, or squeeze on the brake lever can unsettle the bike. YMMV. :cheers:
scratch, if you were running 15w oil THAT was your problem, not the springs. When going up in weight people use 7w or 10w but I've never heard of using 15w in the forks-you're crazy man.
I'm only 120# and I had the progressives in my 2001 gs. They dove just fine. They werent rock solid, but the dive was what I considered to be what should have come from the factory. This is with the stock weight oil.
The bike railed with the progressives, without them the bike pogo'ed around turns. Dive is good. Too much dive is bad.
I'm using 15w fork oil (as per the recommendation at the time) and progressive springs.
The bike handles awesome for me but I am 180# so that could be the difference. I was bottoming out the suspension just pulling in my driveway for cripesake!
i believe kerry and I put in 15wt into my progressive. I weigh in at 155-165.

I was running 10w at first and it was still harsh, so I switched to 5w and I still had problems not getting
enough dive entering turns.
I've been able to dive the Progressives appreciably, but it just doesn't seem to be enough; like I'm not using all of my travel.
OK one problem with too much dive while entering turns ... you hit the brakes before turning in and the thing dives, and you are in the turn by the time it re bounds, and that will now translate into sideways motion of the front wheel to the outside ... aka ... front end slide ... aka .... gaaaaaaaaaaa ... But yea 125 lbs isn't enough to over whelm the stock front or rear end.
