Post by: The Buddha on September 07, 2005, 08:01:57 AM
Far from wanting to change somehting mechanical ... to electronic ... but the jetswing bike is short a guage set, and ...
I have a gorgeous B4 guage cluster just lying there ... begging to be used ...  :( , and I am near certain that it will all straight plug in ... except for the tach ... its electronic ... Old GS is mech ... Any one know how to mod what ...  :)
Cool.

If the tach has the 3 wire setup....
black = negative
white  = positive
orange = signal

Just connect the signal wire to the orange/white wire coming from the ICU to the coils.

I've got an EX500 front on my GS right now(get over it, my speedometer broke), and all I had to do(out of the ordinary) was figure out where to get the signal from.  If you look at the wire diagrams for both bikes, it should be easy to figure out where to tie it in.

So, same deal, but I have a new tach off a 2k4 GSF. There's a Black/Red wire and an Orange wire. I've found the white wire in the headlamp bucket, which I'm assuming is the tach lead (is it?), but what is the Black/Red wire? Where does that need to go? Or do I have it backwards.. does the orange need to go somewhere else??

According to the 04 wiring diagram I have (which I think may be for a Euro model)....
Black/Red wire goes to the ignitor box
Black/White is ground -
Orange is power +
