In the Clymer manual pg 281, two different starter relays are shown. Am I correct in assuming that one (without fuse) was used on earlier models and then replaced by the other in later years? This diagram shows both relays also. http://houseofmotorcycles.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/oem_schematic_view~mp_id~~schem_dept_id~722124~section_dept_id~1~section_dept_name~OEM+%28Stock%29+Parts~dept_type_id~2~model_dept_year~1992~model_dept_mfr~Suzuki~model_dept_id~703254~model_dept_name~GS500EN.asp
Anyone have an extra relay you would be willing to sell???
From what I can see, you are correct; the new parts are numbers 1A through 1D, and they are replacements for the original parts.
You should probably also try to get the newer version of the starter motor wire (the new one is listed as parts 4A and 4B), in order to have the complete assembly ready to bolt in.

That will give you the larger view, which might make things a little easier to see.
Also, I trimmed the unneeded garbage out of the link you provided, to reduce the length of the URL; if you prefer, you can edit your post and use this shorter link:

I realize that you also trimmed some of the garbage out of the link you posted, but my version eliminates another 22 characters, which shortens the URL by about 2.5 screen inches (at 800 x 600 resolution).
Hope this helps; good luck finding a replacement.
