So my girlfriend has been bugging me to find a pink helmet for her. Solid pink without any graphics. Any ideas? None of the major helmet manufacturers seem to have pink in their selections. And I'm wary of corrupting a helmet's shell by painting it myself.
solid...yeah that pretty hard to find...z1r helmets has em with grphics...the ones that rated well in the motorcyclist magazine testng...thinkin of buyin one for my kid sis too... :thumb:
I doubt that painting a helmet yourself would corrupt the shell, unless of course you mean corrupting the image that brand imposes on us :D
as long as you use the correct paint there should be no problem with painting the helmet, just make sure you mask off the inside and the vents so your gf doesnt get high while your riding, might be harder for her to hold on ;)
here's just a site that i found that does helmet painting (just to prove that its possible) http://www.airbrushhelmet.com/

The local IRDC steward (who also used to run a body shop) says that painting a helmet will indeed invalidate the Snell rating, at least as far as conference racing is conerned.
Use vinyl. Or get her to like a Suomy. They're pretty high on the cute scale.
Icon to the rescue!

As Roadstergal points out:

Will this do?
Known as the Icon Ladies Kitty Helmet. Costs around $240 I like the paint scheme better than the Mainframe series for men's. Wish it can in Red -- pretty sure I'm sensitive enough for Pink. :)
God what an awful color for a helmet. My g/f wants one that color too, but she calls my helmet a hat. woman

I think I'd like to see a girl wearin that icon.
That Icon *is* pretty cute....I wonder if they have it in PURPLE.... ;)
Make sure you check out the back.

If they make a jacket to match... man, I just had a mental image. All pink, all the time.
:o

what no pink gloves or boots
You can get the gloves (http://www.rideicon.com/gearProductSummary.jsp?pageid=449&action=Q&product_group_id=3347&category_title=GLOVES&category_id=1082&parent_id=1070&parent_title=WOMENS%20GEAR&product_name=TUSCADERO%20WOMENS%20GLOVE&class_id=1070&class_type=2) in pink.
Do they make puke bags in pink????
No pink hair? :?

Drink Pepto-Bismol. Then your puke will be pink.

The sad thing:
That is probably the closest that girl has ever come to riding a bike.
That or she has been riding bit&& on a 'busa!!!!
I'm kinda curious, and I'm not being sexist, just psychologically interested:
Would any of you women buy a fully pink ensemble if it was available when you were collecting gear, or is it too "girly girl" for present company? (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/redshift/a770741d.gif)
(My guess is Pandy would say "No", but if a Purple suit, she'd be all for it.) :thumb:
Oh, perhaps I should add that if Black is the "male" color (or lack there of -- I digress), I'm against it. No use for Skulls or Demon graphics.
Since I'm sharing, I admit to having a PowerPuff Girl's sticker on my tank -- "Bubbles" to be specific. :) My six year-old daughter thought it was cute and I felt it was the sensitive, fatherly thing to do. Besides, they're superheros. 8)
My wife loves pink (the color) and would wear all that. When I move up to a bigger bike she wants to paint my black GS pink. I say thats ok alongs as its not purple
actually if they weren't chaps and the jacket wasn't so short I would buy the whole set. (though not the helmet) I'm partial to mine. I love pink and wanted everything in pink when I bought my bike. There is a pretty limited selection, but if I see something motorcycle related in pink I'll buy it - I just bought a pink beanie thing for winter from Icon - it's really cute !
I'm not a fan of pink, but I would wear it just to throw people off. It'd be a spare set of gear, though.
I'm OK with the jacket length - my other Icon jacket has been fine - but assless chaps are just out. Especially with the fringe. I don't wear laced boots because the laces can get caught in moving parts (like the chain) in an accident, and the fringe would be just as bad (if not worse).
I got the pink Icon merc jacket. (http://www.wherethepoweris.com/images/wherethepoweris/icontmmercpnk190.jpg)
I like that it's pink so people know I'm a girl rider (maybe)--also it was the brightest color I could find. The picture dosent do it justice, it's really bright. I wanted the pink Icon helmet, but the icon helmets dont fit me well. That leather pink icon jacket is rad, but it's out of my price range for now.
Chaps are just wrong. Especially with fringe.

Actually, I rather like the pink ensembles..I was thinking it would match a purple bike. ;) The first time I saw a helmet with the pink graphics, I loved it! The only thing that's kept me from buying pink gear is the thought that if I get a blue Gixxer 600, clash city! But I may just go pink or purple anyways. :thumb:
P.S. And I wouldn't do fringe, either! BLECH!!!
Sorry, you're just going to have to get a different color GSXR600.
I usually have gear that color coordinates with my bike. Once I crash that bike and have to buy new gear, I get new colors! My jacket and helmet are blue, though, to match my bike. Black does tend to be the "male" color, but I don't think it's as safe as colored gear, just due to light absorbtion properties.
Pandy Biatch and RG no assless chaps with fringe come on now!!!!   I wear them all the time I guess that explains why my ass is wind burnt from all those stunts I've been doing in the chaps.   ;)

I just read the copy on the jacket:
"1.2-1.4mm cat fight resistant leather chassis"

Now I need one!
hmm pink frilly assless chaps....the people I could freak out with them
Totally...
That would be funny as hell watching all the guys checking out your ass.
Just don't ride around in Seattle... I don't want to check out your ass.
Well ladies, thanks for opening up. I wouldn't of guessed the draw to Pink, but I'm not surprised either. ;) Anticipating my wife's needs is kinda a hobby I haven't yet mastered, but have dedicated my life to figure out. :)
Chaps just don't make sense, so I'm with you there. But I'll be one of the first to say that Pink is a bright and rare color on today's roads. Last Pink vehicle I saw was a Mary Kay cosmetics Cadilac, and it was no where as bright. Probably very visible, day or night.
Sorry to say I'll be leaving wearing Pink to others. Flourescent Lime perhaps, Yellow maybe, but I'll leave Pink to those that can do it justice. :thumb:

Ja, laces are not good. Any other comments on how good it is or isn't?
Where's the Armor in that jacket? :dunno: Looks more like fashion leather than a M/C jacket. And that shade of pink!! Clash city. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v11/redshift/bigshot.gif)
"CE certified SP elbow and shoulder protectors," not that that means anything...
I always wear the back protector I got for track, so I don't care about back armor.
I suppose I'd have to see it to really slag it, but from what I see it's definitely not to my taste. Guess my feminine side is deeper than I thought. ;)

GAH! You GOT that thing? So much for taste!
I guess it is better than that yellow contraption you had earlier. Why does it have corsett-style lace on the back? Is it a bustier also?

Mine has been bugging me for the same thing... My local Suzuki dealer says pink helmets are hot right now and he has a hard time keeping them in stock... Wait, WTF? :?
After checking out Ebay there don't seem to be any full face M/C helmets on there that are completely pink. The hemlets that are completely pink look pretty ridiculous, some even come with goggles, how retro eh? Theres something but a company called Z1R that looks pretty decent, Snell and DOT approved. If I were a chickie I'd wear it.

You know, that helmet is pretty sweet. Not that I'd ever wear it, but still, very sweet. I'm gonna print it and take it into my local Suzuki dealer and see if they can order me one since I get parts at cost. My helmet was 150$ and it cost me $98!@ The ball and chain's helmet was 140 and I paid $89. Yes I know I'm a cheapskate but hey, I've got bills coming out of my ears including my bike payment. :guns:
I came across that Stance. The only problem is that the local listed dealer for Z1R only carries the Strike, and it really left me with a negative impression. I'd want to see the Stance in person first, and they won't order it.

I don't think you'll be able to slip a back protector (and/or sweater) into that jacket. Suspect the lacing helps fit. It'll work, but not my style. If it feels good, go for it. I'll give it a 7 out of 10.

I rode to Portland and back this weekend with a back protector under it. It works.

Okay, on that note I'll raise my appraisal to 8 out of 10. If that's you under that leather, it suits you. :thumb: But I have to say that you might cause some distraction with male drivers on the roads out there. It's their problem, not yours -- and at least you'll be noticed. :)

Woah, that pink leather is outstanding. The wife is in love with it and wants one. Thanks a lot! Now I have to go find one like it. Where'd you get it from?
A local dealer here has pink gear: full-face helmets, half-helmets, jackets, full leathers, etc. Look around at some of your local shops.

Did you wind up getting it, or are you going to wait until they get the gloves in?
Dave ;)
After I give her the pink helmet, I'll give her the ... never mind. :)

Stinky pinky?
In the continuing pink-gear saga... Cortech LRX.
http://www.tourmaster.com/product.html?sku=86-650
(http://www.tourmaster.com/pics-large/86-670.jpg)
A new jacket for Cortech, and a very nicely done one. With the zippered liner in, it's warmer than the MotoGP jacket. A good dose of reflective piping. prEN level I CE armor, if I'm remembering correctly. Good adjustability in arms and cuffs and waist. The jacket goes down to the hips, which helps keep it in place and keeps the wind out. Lots of pockets, although they go for quantity over individual volume.
Not crash-tested as yet...
The sizes feel a bit big to me. Nobody smaller than I am would feel all snug in the XS.
But, have you rain tested it yet?
I tried that pink Icon helmet on when I was helmet shopping (only size small they had out on the floor). I felt like a moron. Had to duck behind the display case whilst trying the fit. I couldn't get that thing back into the box fast enough.
But to each her own, I guess. I just can't do pastels...
Quote from: RVertigoBut, have you rain tested it yet?
You'll have noted a distinct lack of rain here recently. Shocking for this area of the country at this time of year, but there you go...
Yeah... THe lack of rain... Well, snow really... is making me ANGRY!! :x
Bad on a number of levels...
Cold without snow is just annoying...
Not enough water to make it through the summer... Now, THAT sucks.
The problem I have found with women's jackets is that they don't take in consideration those of us who are a bit taller. I'm only 5'9" but every woman's jacket I have tried on the sleeves come up a good 3 inches from my wrists when sitting on the bike. I mean what the heck. And then to get a sweater under the jacket for warmth makes me feel like a balloon. If they would just come out with a tall section or something that would be great.
Seems just the opposite to me... Everything I try on is about 6 inches too long... The sleeves cover my hands, and I'd have to shorten the pants about 12 inches!
OK, it's now rain-tested. :P I'm dry.
Most of the women's gear I try on is too big or too long in some dimension. It must be nice to be average.
Quote from: RoadstergalMost of the women's gear I try on is too big or too long in some dimension. It must be nice to be average.
jinx :P
same problem - 5'10" here and all the stuff I buy is guys gear - same with my leathers. I can't even look at girl's one piece - it's a joke! I'd feel like I got shrunk in the dryer! : )
Ya i have the problem with the arms too. The sleeves are always way too short. I have that problem with regular womens clothes too. Clothes shopping always sucks ass.
Quote from: RoadstergalOK, it's now rain-tested. :P I'm dry.
How far did you get?
My jacket is dry for about 40 minutes of HOLY CRAP RAIN at 70 MPH... Then it FAILS. :(
Just commuting and errands, so far. I was out for 1/2 hour last night, but there were stops.
Yeah... If you count the stops, mine went longer than 45 minutes... Oh well, I guess I can't expect the world.
