Title: Front turn signals...question
Post by: MStarmer on September 11, 2005, 12:28:19 PM
Got a stupid question...  Wifes 04 GS500F has hit the ground more than a few times (I know why did I buy a new one...) well with both stock front blinkers kind of toasted I thought I'd save some cash and wired up a set of Lockhart Phillips replacements.  Got a nice set (shorter) for $15 and used the stock wires to lengthen them to the stock length and connectors.  They seem to work fine but I cant remember if they are supposed to be on like running lights or only come on when they blink.  My Kawasaki the fronts are on as soon as you turn the key?

Help?

They only come on when they blink.

Some of the 04+ owners can confirm this, but after looking at the schematic, I see no reason the turn signals would come on other than when commanded.

We discussed something like this a few weeks ago regards to figuring out how to make them on while the ignition was on and then blink for turning. It would take a circuit redesign to do this.

It is not impossible. It just would require some work and research to find the parts to do it.

Now if you get a wild notion to install LEDs, ask here first. The turn signal indicator lamp on the "dash" will cause you problems if you don't take precautions.
