Title: Hello all!!!
Post by: FortyFive on September 12, 2005, 10:01:59 AM
Hello all i am happy to say I am a new owner of a GS 500f. I was wondering if anyone would like to write back and let me know what parts i could put on it to improve my new bike. i would like to start off making it look better and then improve the power lil bit at a time... any suggestions please let me know as i have no idea where to start, except for the fenderectomy in the rear i am also looking for a rear light with integrated turn signals as well as an upgrade to get those pesky front turn to stick to the side of the bike. If anyone knows where to get these parts let me know.

The flux capacitor is the best upgrade and will give you the most power gain.

I wrote a how-to on the turn signal integrator:

And just did the black windscreen, front flush-mounts, and complete fenderectomy (removed all visible parts but kept plastics under to protect the wiring under the seat):

I am going to get pics up tonight. Feel free to PM me with any specific questions.

There are so many helpful people here, you will have no problems getting someone to help you. I have learned a lot, and 95% of that knowledge has come from people on this site.

no really, the flux capacitor is under the seat, next to the battery... :bs: otherwise, I think I like the look of the fenderectomy, I think most people on here will reccommend a new pipe, probably a wileyco with a Srinath flange in it, painted windscreen looks good, if the bike is brand new, you may want to do some searching both here and on the internet about break in procedures, some follow the factory suggestions, others follow the "ride it like you stole it" break in procedures, I think everyone on this board leans toward the factory break in...

whew... breathe... ok.. now what color is the bike? I'm jealous, no matter what color, because I don't have mine yet... and one newb to another, welcome...

Oh yes... possibly some flush mounts in the front to go along with the integrator in the back... Or even just some short stalks...

sweet, 04 blue/white looks like a lil mini gixxer, I like it... of course, the fact that some idiots will confuse it with a gixxer is bad, cuz most thieves are idiots... anyway, no, I've ridden Buddha Loves You a few times, never had the chance to ride on my own.. be taking the MSF this summer, as I'm currently enrolled full time in school, don't think I can fit it in, or afford it right now... If there's anyone in the ATL area who wants to show a pilion how much fun this bike is, lemme know...

Better than a catfight.

Spend money on maintenance and good full-body gear.  I think money spent on riding schools of any kind is well-spent (I think the same for cars and HPDEs).

I always felt the fenderectomy was a form of castration or mutilation, cruel and unusual,  and shouldn't be done to any living thing, especially a GS500 that can't get away unless you twist it's throttle. Don't do it.  :nono: Mine was still intact when I sold it. :thumb:

+1

Anybody can look like they're fast. A truly skilled and talented rider, who has trained themselves, will be picked up by the MotoGP grid.

yea, I'm rather confused, I don't know how this was perceived as a fight, I took it all as good natured questions.. I'll be the first to tell you I'm a newb to riding, if not to this board... can't wait to take my MSF... and I agree, from what I've seen/read here, ATGATT... anyways, happy trails to all, and here's to riding with some of you some day...   mine'll have to be root beer though...
