Title: Hi Everyone
Post by: oldtimer on September 15, 2005, 02:45:45 PM
New to the forum.. this is a great place... Im about to get my first motorcycle, and although like most newbies.. I want a zuki boulevard c50 black ..really bad.. but have to work within a realistic budget.. turns out my new renter is a nice youngster who has a pristine  gs500e in (uck) purple and silver..  its a 98..and is almost mint..extremly well taken care of.. has 15k on it.. and engine sounds like a new bike...  ive read alot of reviews on this bike..and I dont think im going wrong for  the price at all..
im probably going to buy it next month.. and not learn to ride seriously untill next spring ( yea we get winter here in western new york) ...  so ill have  4 or 5 months to learn about maintance... functions..ect..  i hope that i dont look stupid at my age ( 50ish) on a sport bike..but its a very nice bike for the money...i dont plan on anything but using it for back and forth to work or maby a small day trip...  and im def not a hotdogger.. ..
do you guys think this is a good first bike..considering the excellent condition and  price.. ( around $1500)  ...and its...PURPLE...uck.. guess im a black bike kinda guy but for first learner bike..beggars cant be picky..

No one can tell how old you are underneath a jacket and full-face helmet, anyway.  :)

that's reassuring, but, due to my height, most people will still assume I'm twelve...

As long as you're comfortable on it...  Get it.  Sit on it for a while...

And...

Someone once said that purple GS's were the fastest. I forget though...

you should get it painted blue and put orange wheels on it.
(no, I do not support the Broncos)

Oldtimer! Welcome!!!

Do NOT listen to these purple haters!!! :bs:  Purple is a BEAUTIFUL colour for a GS!!! *sigh* I'll trade ya'! I have a purple  bike that's now black. The previous owners did a bad home paint job, and all the beautiful purple was covered up.  :(

There are MANY men here on GSTwin who have purple bikes, and they're all REAL men!! Hoooya!!! The GS is a wonderful bike to learn on (especially the purple ones, cuz they're the fastest! ;) ), and you are YOUNG!! YOUNG, YOUNG, YOUNG! You're in the prime of your life, and a purple GS is JUST the thing to KEEP you young!

Buy that purple GS beauty! Sounds like a great price if it's in such great condition!!!  :thumb:  The other beautiful thing about the GS's (besides the beautiful PURPLE!! ;) ) is that they retain their value very well, so you can learn on her, and then you can sell her to get the bike of your dreams. Many of us hang onto our dear GS's even after we've learned!

Go for it!!!!!!  :thumb:  :thumb:  :thumb:

Oh...and don't let anyone tell you otherwise, but the PURPLE ones keep their value and go UP in value every year...the bike I have under this uck black one is worth $10,000.00! I'm sure of it!!! ;););)

Is it blasphemy?

If I remember correctly, a lot of people liked the orange wheeled idea.

Not on a purple gs though

I didnt like the crazy blue on my 95 at first, but it grew on me :)

Post by: The Buddha on September 15, 2005, 08:57:19 PM
The 96 I believe had one cool blue - darkish blue, then the 91 blue, then the 01-02 04-05 blues are my fave's ... of whihc the 04-05 was ruined by the stoopid white ... 04 had white tail, 05 has a dumb ass white mid ... an 05 and 04 should be mix matched and one bike should have the whites, and another the blues.
Cool.
Srinath.

Me too.  I have my eye on the 2005 or later model with fuel injection. Maybe next fall if I hit the lottery.

I'm 67 and I know I look stupid on my Suzy but I feel like a teenager when riding her.
