Title: GSXR shock and swingarm clearance
Post by: shaky on September 16, 2005, 10:06:31 AM
I put in a '94 GSXR shock after grinding the shock linkage only to find that the shock sits against the swingarm. It just barely touches, but it does keep the swingarm from, well, swinging. Is it possible to grind off some of the swingarm? Or maybe I should just get a different shock?

you could remove a little
you could dent it with a hammer

you have a steel rocker link....not AL correct?
(the link that you ground on)

it is worth the mod!!!!!

Seems the factory tolerances are loose enough that some frames interfere and some don't.
:dunno:
Bounce on the bike a few times with the shock installed to leave a mark where the shock is rubbing. and then I would use a grinder to grind the swingarm brace a bit. using a hammer to dint it might distort the swingarm.

twist the spring so that the swing arm is between the coils.

Thats a good idea too (probably better than removing metal), if it will work thru the whole range of SA motion.
