Title: Sticker removal
Post by: Mr.7 on September 18, 2005, 11:13:12 AM
The little sticker that is right above the gas cap (that warns you not to drink and ride) is starting to peel. I was wondering what is the best way to remove stickers. I may remove the stickers that say "GS500E" right below the passenger seat beacause yellow stickers on a blue bike don't really go well

I still did not find anything to take off the sticker glue without removing the paint.  Lighter fluid did not work as suggested.

after pulling the stickers rub the residue with a rag to spread the glue around into a thinner coat. spray some wd-40 on your rag and then rub the residue till it comes off. you'll get an arm workout but it'll come off quick. I got my stickers off in about 20 minutes, glue and everything. That sticker on the gas tank is damn near impossible to peel off, it's not like the stickers on the fairings. I just sanded that one off when I painted my gas tank. The stipes on the side of the gas tank are clear coated over so you'd have to sand those ones off as well.

I hate when the cool sticker peels!  It looks so cool!!!  They should put it on under the clear-coat like the graphics. :thumb:

Do you think the paint around the gs500e sticker has faded. the last thing I want is to peel the sticker off and have a big dark spot on the side of my bike. Has this happened to anyone else? My bike was supposedly garaged so mabey the paint fade isn't that bad.

You should be able to find a few places with covered paint...  Under the seat?  Bottom of the tank?

Compare the difference...

I would guess that it has faded...

You could always get a new sticker (http://houseofmotorcycles.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/oem_schematic_view~mp_id~~mscssid~G9J2UTWKT9SR2N8T00AKHLKGNQDN6QLC~schem_dept_id~725734~section_dept_id~1~section_dept_name~OEM+%28Stock%29+Parts~dept_type_id~2~model_dept_year~2001~model_dept_mfr~Suzuki~model_dept_id~703275~model_dept_name~GS500K1.asp) if it is really faded.   :dunno:

i just picked at it with my fingernail for 20 minutes and then wd40'ed the residue off. wd40 works great- only took 5 seconds of work.

That sticker is such a B**ch to remove though. It must have peeled into 400 pieces as I was trying to get it off.
