Title: HERE IT IS AGAIN... PLEASE HELP!!!
Post by: KYGS500E on September 18, 2005, 09:50:13 PM
Ok guys... I know this is all over the boards but I still need some help!  I recently develped a loud knocking, ticking, pinging, clanging noise as I get into the throttle.  The noise developed after a retarded oil over filling!  I drained the extra oil and tried re-tightening the cam chain tensioner.  The ticking is still there.  It is subtle at first and then gets louder as the bike warms up!  I keep seeing people post about "valve adjustments" but see no how to's.  Should I look into this as I'm certain the previous owner didn't do it?  If I choose to take it to a shop to do it how much should I expect to pay?  Again... any other ideas as to the noise or any how to's on valve adjusting?  Sorry to post it again... but i'm out of ideas!

if it keeps knocking after adjustment, and it mainly happens when warm, the its cam end play probably, common on some models, and its not fatal, the engine just keeps going anyway
