Title: QUES: OIL COOLER?
Post by: what?! on September 19, 2005, 01:18:24 AM
i noticed that the 500f has an oil cooler.  is there a way to "ghetto-rig"/retrofit it to the 500e?  does the oil cooler really make that much of a difference?

Besides the oil cooler obviously, the F has a different bottom pan and some internal plumbing for the oil cooler.
So it might be more work than it looks.

You can put an oil cooler on an older GS engine. It requires modifiying the oil filter cover and some fittings.  Do a search on "oil cooler" here and you should find where it was discussed.

GS500F has plastics around its cylinder head, thus it doesn't get the same air flow as older GS500E model. To help keep it cool  8)  suzuki aded that oil cooler to compensate. So the naked GS is fine the way it is. Now stay cool everyone!
