Yesterday in the midst of our 200-twisty-turny-mile-last-ride-of-the-season ride yesterday the leader pulls his 2001 R1 over and says to me "here - take her for a ride!" I about fall off my bike (while I'm still on it) cause that's a pretty big deal - if you ask me - and with great reluctance swapped horses. (He looked REALLY silly on my bike with it's pink backpack strapped to the rear seat!)
I start in first, go up through a couple of gears and pretty soon I'm doin 80 in 25mph corners and I had no idea until I looked down. I get a little more comfy and voom, I'm gone. WOW what a trip. I had her for about 45 minutes through some beautiful roads. What a different feel! From ergos to throttle to gear changing. I'd never been on another bike before and what a bike to start on - more than triple the horsepower.
I got back on my little baby and was really happy for the awesome experience but also doubly glad that I know how to handle my GS and know what she's capable of (especially in corners - holy R1 scary-ness!) I would love one of these yamaha beasties but it bought me down a few pegs cause I sure as crap wouldn't know how to handle one!
It was a pretty neat experience all around!
Awesome. I'd like to try out a "real" sportsbike sometime, the only other motorcycle I've ridden was a Yamaha Exciter 250 Cruiser. Sounds like you had fun! :thumb:
What did he think of your GS?
If you don't mind me asking, what roads were you riding?
Jake - I don't know I'll have to ask him!
Man - we were up through the Menomonee reservation up from Green Bay - (northern WI). Aweseome canopied roads. Just gorgeous.
Sounds like a darned fine time!!!!
