Greetings everyone! I have been searching through and reading on here for awhile, and think i may be buying a gs500 in the next few months....just had a few questions...
1. Can I buy a used gs500e for cheaper on ebay, and then convert the headlight/whatever else needs to change, to fit an aftermarket body kit (like the aluzio, etc...)? Is this possible, and if so, what all is involved with it?
2. any suggestions on what places offe the most competitive insurance rates?
much appreciated!
Yup ... been there, done that ... and no - not doing it again ...
Cool.

i looked up some searches on "conversion" put could not find the info...if you can link to a topic if this ahs already been beaten to death it would be much appreciated...im just trying to see if its even feasible before i start researching it....
You could probably get a body kit for the GSE, but you couldn't use the GSF bodywork, I don't think. You'd have to drill the frame and weld a tab on the steering head for the fairing bracket support. A Titan body kit would work for the E model, though.
For insurance, I've found Dairyland to be very good.
I put a GS-F fairing on the 89 that is currently Tarzan boy's bike. Yea welding is needed, however I had a nifty idea with a muffler clamp ... that the previous owner nixed, so I welded ears on the steering neck. Heck it went through 3 hands in the few months ... started by 1 guy, went to another and now its TZB's ... hope its not cos of the fairing ... :o ...
Cool.

I have a TCP fairing on my GS500E and the head lamp bracket is hold in place with some sort of muffler clamp, it's designed so, I guess Aluizio's fairing works the same way, mine works great.
