Title: ...more unfortunate and STUPID bike accidents......
Post by: pnaberhaus on September 19, 2005, 02:35:22 PM
This past weekend was not a good one for river city bikers.

Incident #!... Car makes a left turn in front of Honda Shadow, bike goes down, biker rushed to hospital (no helmet) :o

Incident #2... P/U pulls out of road into path of motorcycle. Biker is killed. (What's left look like it was a sport bike). Don't know if biker was wearing a helmet, but I don't think it mattered as the impact flipped the pick-up truck :o

Incident #3...Biker looses control of what appears to be a sport bike @11:30 PM. Neither biker nor his 2 passengers, aged 3 and 5, were wearing helmets! All go to hospital. WHAT was that guy thinking. NO helmets :nono:  11:30 at night with kids aged 3 and 5? :nono:  (sounds like child endangerment to me).  :nono:

I'm gonna get preachy here.....wear your gear, be careful, and try not to take any innocents with you if you're gonna do something stupid!

And look, fer cryin' out loud.  Cages don't look.  I saw an Expedition make a right turn almost into an XTerra at lunch (honking and swerving involved) - and it was a high-visibility corner.  So look ahead to any and all places were a cage might pull out or turn in front of you, and be ready to swerve and to honk.  Motorcycling on the street is 80% anticipation.

And - 3 and 5, no helmets?  A cop should pull the guy over as soon as he leaves the house and give him a mandatory vasectomy.
