Post by: ditchdoc1017 on September 19, 2005, 02:55:43 PM
OK I put 37.5 pilot could not get them out so left them.I put 130 main with K&N pod man it sounds deeper.I put one #4 under then needle.Well runs alot better Oh went out 2.5 on the mixer screw I have power all the way thru also ran a fuel line straight to the carbs with a on and off from the res cap the on and the vacum.Took about 4.5 hrs but part of that was going back to the store to get the bolts for the bowls #5mm by 12 by .08 if any one needs them.I going to ride a while in the morning to see how she does.

They prolly do, but you've posted so little info ... what pipe, what filter ... and OK I am inclined to think your floats are set high ... why ... 37.5, and 2.5 - 2.25 is stock ... no way you are right with that, also You must have pod/Lunch box K&N and stock pipe right ... OK you should try jetting it till its too rich and then back up 1 step. You dont want to be lean in the mid and upper range and not know it. Do a plug pull under load and see.
Cool.

OK I just rode it 45 miles it ran Great I have power thru the whole band I will check my plugs and see.I did not change the pilot's one reason the guy  at the local shop been doing this with drag bike for 25 years said leave it and just change the main.
Title: plug

The pilots for every other bike I have seen (4-5 different ones Eli 1000, Virago 535 and 1100, Nitehawk, GSXR, katana 600 ) all reacted badly to a larger pilot. The GSXR actually benifitted from a smaller pilot ... the GS is the only one which needs the larger one. They sent 40's to every country except US. Plug pull has to be under load in the throttle range you want to test it in ... as in get on the road and ride it ... 6th or 5th gear, 1/2 throttle for like 3-5 seconds after the bike stops accelerating, then hit the kill switch, pull in clutch and pull over to side of the road ... wait a few mins and pull the plugs ... repeat for 3/4 throttle and maybe as close to full throttle as you can. I know its freaking complicated and damn dangerous ... especially in redneck counrty ... whihc is why I usually jet it backwards.
Cool.
