can anyone suggest any nice riding places within 50mi (~1 hour) of atlanta?
i know about the apalachians, but 2.5hrs each way is a bit far for casual riding.
I used to live in ATL. My father and I would ride north of town in Cherokee Cty. I think the area is Blueridge??? or Charihola Parkway??
I live in Atlanta, but I haven't scoped any super awesome spots out yet. There is a sorta-curvy road in roswell called riverside that runs right next to the chattahoochee, but a fair number of cars use it too, and you don't go all that far before you hit normal traffic (a few miles).
The best place to check for riding routes/locations is on http://georgiasportbike.net. Lots of local riders on there who could probably give you the skinny on what you want
--EDIT-- fixed again (so that it actually works... thanks chiquita!)

Well it might take a few minutes to get there, but it is a good ride. I wish there were some good rides that close here in Dallas.
crash, if you check out georgiasportbike.com there are some good roads/maps on there.
Or check out this site, http://www.deadzonevideo.com/ He has some great maps on there also.
Happy riding. :)
